BioShock 2 releasing globally February 9

It may have been delayed into 2010, but thankfully, we won't have to wait too long into next year to finally play BioShock 2.

BioShock 2 releasing globally February 9

In a little over four months, I'm going to shoot the hell out of this.

The good news? You'll be playing BioShock 2 only forty days into the next calendar year, on February 9, 2010.

The bad news? So will the French, as the game will be releasing in all territories on the same day.

After suffering one of the most agonizing delays in video game history, BioShock 2 has finally settled on what we hope is a definite release date. You can be assured that GamePro will continue to bring you the hottest exclusives on this game (like our premiere of the Big Daddy prototype), but for now, just smile and read 2K's official proclamation.

2K Games Announces February 9, 2010 Global Street Date for BioShock(r) 2

Sequel to the winner of more than 50 Game of the Year Awards marks the arrival of one of 2010's most highly anticipated titles

New York, NY - September 18, 2009 - 2K Games announced today that BioShock(r) 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2007 Game of the Year, will be available worldwide beginning February 9, 2010. The game is now available for pre-order at participating retailers.

Currently in development for the Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation(r)3 computer entertainment system, and Games for Windows(r) LIVE, BioShock 2 will deliver two unique, yet intertwined experiences that form the perfect blend of explosive first-person shooter combat, compelling storytelling and intense multiplayer action.

Set approximately 10 years after the events of the original BioShock, the halls of Rapture once again echo with sins of the past. Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.

Multiplayer in BioShock 2 will provide a rich prequel experience that expands the origins of the BioShock fiction. Set during the fall of Rapture, players assume the role of a Plasmid test subject for Sinclair Solutions, a premier provider of Plasmids and Tonics in the underwater city of Rapture that was first explored in the original BioShock. Players will need to use all the elements of the BioShock toolset to survive, as the full depth of the BioShock experience is refined and transformed into a unique multiplayer experience that can only be found in Rapture.

BioShock 2 is currently in development at 2K Marin in collaboration with 2K Australia, Digital Extremes and 2K China for the Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation(r)3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows(r) LIVE. BioShock 2 will be available worldwide on February 9, 2010. This title is not yet rated by the ESRB.

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

While I'm glad we're getting BioShock 2 early in 2010, this doesn't give me much time to plow through the awesome catalog of holiday games.

Out of all games this one is the one I'm MOST looking forward to!! The multiplayer is most likely the cause for delaying it but i've seen the multiplayer video and it looks chaotic and fun! reminds me of team fortress 2 which I wasn't thrilled by but the B2 looks very fun!!

TRUPREDATOR

this and modern warfare 2 are the games im most hyped to get once they release.im keepin a close eye on aliens versus predator too. looks pretty promising so far.

Garrr, I was hoping for a summer release. I mean, God of War 3, Mass Effect 2, Mafia 2 are all releasing in that timeframe.

Bioshock is incredible with a truly well written story. The sequel should be on par with it if not better. Multiplayer is very intriguing :)

Not sure about multiplayer, but as long as the game is great it's all good. It looks like it's shaping up to be another game of the year! Too bad that's going to be next year! Oh well, it's not like there will be a shortage of games to play this holiday season!

UNSCgrunt

I don't think multiplayer will fit bioshock. I just hope the singleplayer is epic.
