Playstation Network's new series "The Tester" begins casting for videogame-themed reality TV.

Sony announced an open casting call today for gamers interested in appearing on the new PSN reality show "The Tester."

The eight-episode HD series is being developed exclusively for PlayStation Network and features a group of real-life gamers competing to win a job as a game tester. The casting call warns potential contestants that they'll be subjected to an escalating series of challenges designed to test their "mental toughness, endurance, and video game knowledge."

To win the contract position at PlayStation's Quality Assurance facility in San Diego, CA gamers are being asked to submit an entry form and a brief video highlighting their unique qualifications for the show. We know job opportunities are getting scarce, but is fifteen minutes of fame and a minimum-wage contract position enough to justify public humiliation and the hellish life of a QA tester? Let us know!

I'll sign up. I think that job can lead to an even better position so it would be worth it IMO.Plus I can only be humiliated if I'm not up to the challenges.

This could only lead to a better position if you have knowledge in the programming or art aspects of gaming. If all you got is game playing experience......you got nothin past this position.

Being a game tester is not fun man, its all work I believe. Sure it sounds great on the surface. But its probably long hours and tideous work. Being a gamer means having fun in your free time. Why would you want to end it doing work? Oh i know the saying, "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life." When it should say, "Do what you love and you'll never love anything in your life again." People have hobbies because it's a break away from life, work, marriage, the kids, what have you. Its a piece of mind from everything else. Your own little world.

these days...reality TV is the skidmark in the underwear of television.

the OOONLY reality TV show I'll watch is the The Ultimate Fighter. only because I'm a fan of MMA and its interesting to watch them train and fight at the end of each show...the in-between drama bullshit is annoying.

look what (most) reality TV has done to some networks...MTV sucks ass because of reality television...because 15 and 16 year old girls can't get enough of this garbage.

as for a videogame based show...meh...I'd watch an episode out of curiousty but i highly doubt this is something worth keeping up with.

Video game testing is a pain in the ass. For christ sake, it's not even a permanent spot, go through all this bullshit for a contract? Which will most likely be over in 3-6 months. Then you have to deal with leads who think they are executive producers of the game, fuck em.
