God of War Collection coming this holiday season; smoother graphics, trophies included

God of War III is easily one of the most anticipated titles of 2010, and while the wait for the game seems as arduous as Kratos' last two epic journey's, there be some comfort in knowing that game developers really do listen to their fans.

In an announcement today from Sony Computer Entertainment, God of War and God of War II will be reworked for the PS3, and both will be contained on a single Blu-ray disc entitled, "God of War Collection."

Hack things up in high definition, as God of War I & II make their way to Blu-ray this holiday season.

The God of War Collection will feature smoother graphics running at 60 frames per second, with capabilities of playing the two classic titles at 1280 by 720 resolution.

"We are excited today to announce God of War Collection," said Scott Rohde, vice president, Worldwide Studios America. "Our fans spoke and we listened; thanks to our partnership with Bluepoint Games, fans and newcomers to the series can experience the epic God of War and God of War II saga in stunning 720p on PS3. This Blu-ray Disc compilation brings Kratos to PS3 even earlier than expected."

While it will never truly compensate for God of War III being pushed back to March 2010, it does add a nice bonus to the already mythical anticipation. The collection will sell for $40 and will include trophy support for those garnering to add some Kratos crushing rewards to their collection.



You can expect the God of War Collection this holiday season, just enough time for you to warm up your harpy stabbing thumbs for March's God of War III.

Epic win is epic! Love me some GoW, needed an excuse to play these games again this year, and HD support is always a nice reason. But then trophies too??! YES.

somebody answer me please!!!!! when is the ps3 gonna be able to play ps2 games again? I'm waiting for that to happen, to buy the ps3 because there's lots of ps2 games I want to play, but also lots of games from the ps3. thanks!!!!!!!!

this is tits. i have GoW2 but my copy of GoW1 pulled a vanishing act (never letting friends borrow games again...ever) so this sounds great.

2 excellent games with 60fps and a sharper picture is well worth it for $40.

Unless you got rid of your PS2,why does it matter if the PS3 has BC or not? I'd love the feature too,especially for the near-limitless memory space for its games (320GB baby,it'll take forever for me to fill even just a GB worth of PS2 titles' saves),but I personally wouldn't let that feature keep me from playing some great games in HD. Do yourself a favor,take advantage of all the dropped prices and pick one up when you can.
