Bungie unsure of Halo series' future, post-Reach

We've got Halo 3: ODST coming, and then the mysterious Halo Reach. After that, even Bungie doesn't know whether the Halo series will be continuing...
To be continued... maybe. Kinda. We'll see. It depends.
Last month, Bungie's Lars Bakken said pretty matter-of-factly that Halo: Reach was going to be Bungie's last Halo game and that the developer would then be moving onto a new IP. At the recent Gamescon, however, Brian Jarrard said differently to VideoGamer.com.
"The clarification is we just don't know at this point... I think there's a lot of work just to get Reach done between now and next fall. At that point anything's possible. We're going to keep looking at making the games we want to make. Maybe that's Halo. Maybe it's not. We'll have to wait and see."
If Bungie does move on to more Halo, I hope that doesn't delay the new IP that Bakken mentioned. Halo 3: ODST is currently scheduled to come out on September 22, with Reach due out in 2010.

Bungie Dont!!!! you have to keep the Halo franchise alive dont let another studio make Halo and ruin the goodness of the franchise (cough, cough) Treyarch!

A new IP from Bungie would be awesome, but like HoodNerd said, it would be a shame for another developer to take the reigns on the Halo franchise and ruin the shit out of it.

I don't really care what Bungie does. If they keep Halo going, that's awesome. If they don't it will have a new look. I would also look forward to Bungie's next IP. It's hard to argue with the cash flow Halo commands, so maybe Bungie sticks around. I kind of feel that ODST has a lot to do with determining the future of Halo, along with Reach.

I am curious to see what the new IP will be but I think it would be hard for Bungie to follow Halo and make something completely original. I guess though, they made Halo, they might be able to do it again.

Halo 3 was a nice ending to the main series. I want Bungie to work on something new but I also want them to do another Halo game.

This is such B.S. Like Bungie would ever stop making this multi million selling series!? As long there is millions of $$ do be made off of Halo, they'll keep making it.
