Early ads from major retailers for Sunday, August 30th confirm that the Xbox 360 will be undergoing a price drop..
Ads are currently circulating the web that reflect an Xbox 360 price drop for Sunday, August 30th. Engadget nabbed the Target Ad, which lists the Pro model at $249, and the 120GB Elite model at $299. A Best Buy ad surfaced on Kotaku, and one for Walmart on Joystiq. This appears to be Microsoft's answer to the Sony's PS3 Slim and the price drop announcement. We'll be keeping an eye out to see if these ads turn out to be the real deal.

thats good that they're dropping their price...but what about these hardware failures??? have they've been fixed as a whole? my friend got a newer 360 a couple of weeks ago and got the E-46 error or whatever its called. i just ask cause to me its not much of a deal if the systems are still tanking

Now with the elite price drop they need to drop the price of the 120 GB HDD. I'm almost out of memory on my 20 gb, and I'm not really interested in the 60 because I'm starting to download a lot more arcade games, demos, tv shows, and music videos.

This always happens when I buy a console, or an upgrade for it. I buy a 360 last year, the price drops $50 and they hard drive is 60 GB a month later, I got stuck with the 20 GB. I buy a ps3 a month ago, the price drops $100. I also bought a new over priced 120 GB hard drive for my 360 a month ago, which was half the price of a new Elite, which is now $300? I would of just bought a whole new 360 Elite if I would of known the price was going to drop. Everytime a buy a console or upgrade one, the price drops a month later. WTF. Its pissing me off. Happens to me when I buy games too.

That's the Million Dollar question. Considering the system failure rate is up to 56%,a significant jump from the 33% a year and a half ago,I'd say there are more faulty systems than not. I wish the issue would go away so I can own a 360 someday. I wanna know what happened with the California lawsuit against MS. Haven't heard anything about it since it was mentioned.

Am I the only one that noticed that both the PS3 Slim & the 360 Elite are $299 with 120 Gb drives niether with HDMI CABLES. The 360 comes with a headset and the PS3 comes with Blu-Ray and Wi-Fi as the differences between them. Oh, and free multiplayer that works just fine, Oh and it's less likely the fail on you. Sounds to me like the PS3 is now the better value. Before anybody says it I own a 360 too. I just wish they would lower the price of the 120 Gb drive. I put a 320 Gb 7200 Rpm drive in my PS3 for $80, but I have to spend $150 to change out my 20 Gb for a 120 Gb. It just doesn't seem right. I might not complain about the charged for multiplayer and high priced drive if my 360 hadn't been repaired 5 times already.

Microsoft has to do better than this. A redesign and larger HD are a must now that Sony is offering 160 gigs at the same price. Not to mention Blu Ray. Either drop to 250 Microsoft, or give us a redesign with a larger HD. I want an Elite pretty fuckin bad, and would rather have one than a PS3, but I'm not going to ditch my 20 Gig if I don't get a redesign or a larger HD.
