Perfect Dark on Xbox 360 looks five times as good as Nintendo 64 original

Rare teases Perfect Dark on Xbox Live with HD screens of the game's new graphics compared to the N64 original.
Perfect Dark was one of those games I heard about, but never actually played. We all have one. "That game" the masses went Beatlemania over, but which, for one reason or another, we never got around to. Every time I read a '90s gaming retrospective--the original came out in 1998--it's like a finger wagging. Call it parochial ludological guilt.
If you're like me and don't have a spare Nintendo 64 lying around, you'll have a chance to see what all the fuss was about when the Xbox Live Arcade high-def makeover arrives sometime this winter. That's right, the entire game, overhauled and enhanced.
In geek-speak, we're talking 1080p visuals (1920x1080 lines of resolution?the original could run at 640x480 max with severe performance penalties) purring along at 60 frames per second. I still can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 (perhaps, as GTA IV's Brucie might say, I'm ocularly-inferior) but if "six-zero-fps" trips your trigger, check out these brand new comparison shots, just posted, and do a little happy dance for included (formerly absent) online multiplayer and leaderboard scoring modes.
Read the original article on PC World here and check out the screens below which compare the new version of Perfect Dark to the original.

To me, Goldeneye was way better than the Original Perfect Dark. I was actually upset when I first played Perfect Dark that it didn't have that feeling of Awe that Goldeneye pushed down your Mind Grapes. However, as time went on, and I realized that this wasn't supposed to be Goldeneye, I finally starting enjoying it.
About 10 years later, though, and I have learned from my ignorance in a masssive way. It has become one of my favorite shooters ever made. It holds up amazingly well all these years later. And anyone who hasn't played it yet will soon experience one of the best shooters ever made.

the n64 version is better, I'm sure Rare found a way to fuck up this HD version like they did with Banjo Tooie, and as they quit making good games since Microsoft bought them from Nintendo.

??? soo you bring back the classic perfect dark game into the 360 with enhanced 360 graphics to make a quick buck?? why don't you guys stop being lazy Rare, and actually make a new good perfect dark title for the 360. The 360 needs as much blockbuster exclusives it could get and bringing something like that to the livemarket place doesnt help!! either way.. Sony is better.

I rented Goldeneye because it was the "new game" Blockbuster had, from that that day on my life was changed. I eventualy bought it and played it everyday with my friends until Perfect Dark came out, which I preordered.

Was the comparison really necessary? Obviously it's going to look better. Just show the 360 screen shots. Only thing I'm going to care about is the online multiplayer. The multiplayer on the 64 was already addicting and now that it's going to be online let the addiction continue. Can't wait :)
