PS3 price drop no longer a rumor

Sony announces a $100 price drop on the 80GB and 160GB Playstation 3 consoles at GamesCom.
It's about time. Earlier today at Sony's GamesCom press conference it was announced that, along with the $299 label on the 120GB PS3 Slim, Sony's 80GB model will also drop to $299. Sony's heftier 160Gb model will also see a drop in price, now costing $399.
Why the older 80GB PS3 model will still cost as much as the 120GB PS3 Slim is still up for debates, but there's no arguing that customers will certainly appreciate the slashed prices.

Bullshit, I just bought an 80 GB model about 2 months ago. The same shit happened when I bought my Xbox 360, price dropped $50 and the hard drive went from 20 Gb to 60 GB exactly 2 months after I bought it. I'm just going to quit buying new consoles and play my Sega Genesis and Nintendo 64, they had better games anyway.

I don't know i mean the ps3 slim is all around better than the fatty so why sell the 80gb at the same price as a slim with 120gb?

If they have backwards compatibility on it, I'll consider it. If not, I'll stick with my PS3.

wonder how many people going to say still cost to much wait for another price cut.lol i wish i would get for that price i paid 400 for 40gb model and after like six seven games hd is way more half full. so for anyone getting one if can swing for the biggest one do so. and what of the backwards compatability have they put that back into effect yet or they decide not to do it.
