24 Xbox 360 on-demand games revealed for launch

A list has surfaced revealing the first batch of 24 formerly retail-only Xbox 360 games that will soon be downloadable via Xbox Live.

Joystiq has posted a list of what looks like the launch slate of Xbox 360 Games on Demand. One of the features of the highly-touted August update but unavailable to those with the dashboard preview, the Games on Demand service will allow Xbox 360 owners to download full versions of retail-available Xbox 360 games that can be launched from the Xbox Dashboard without a disc. Here are the games that will reportedly be available when the new update rolls out on Xbox Live on August 11.

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

While my meager 20GB hard drive will be overwhelmed, this is a pretty good slate for Elite owners. I just hope these games are priced comparably retail games, which offer physical content as well as resale value. I don't have high hopes right now, though, since the Xbox Originals on 360 are all pretty overpriced.

Why would anybody download this stuff. I would much rather rent the game a blockbuster instead of paying through the nose on xbox live also if you beat the game it is just sitting in your hard drive taking up space you can deleat but still dumb idea. I would only rent from blockbuster, try before you buy!!!

I still prefer physical copies, especially if they are going to cost the same amount of money to buy. But if someone else doesn't mind it, then this will surely come in handy for them.

maranda

I prefer having the physical game, so that maybe I can exchange it or lend it to a friend. Will these games be cheaper?

IF the 360 could use any hard drive like my PS3, I wouldnt mind this
but it cant so they cankiss my ass on this one LOL...Besides I like
havin the hard copy in the case anyway

cockrezerected

some of those games aren't worth it if they are over 19 $... i bought a few of those cheap at gamestop .. i got prey used at GS for 4 bucks and most of those are under 10 bucks used...

TRUPREDATOR

the only way this service will ever fully blossom is if ms stays competitive with used game prices.if not we will see its demise im sure.too many gamers like myself prefer physical copies.

patsfan365

lol, i expected coming into this article to see the xbox fanboys rejoice. but i too prefer disc copies. you can trade them in for some money.

Microsoft should invest on selling cheaper hard drive, since with the size of these downloads, it really prevents users from downloading many games.
