New DLC campaign coming to Left 4 Dead next month

Even though Left 4 Dead 2 is coming this fall, owners of the first are in for a treat as Valve will be bringing out a new campaign in September.

Valve isn't ignoring their promise to bring new DLC to Left 4 Dead. A new pack, Crash Course, announced today, brings players a new single player, multiplayer and co-operative mode. The DLC patch is due this September. That's next month so quit your whining.

Crash Course is designed to close the gap left from the end of "No Mercy" to the beginning of "Death Toll." As a self-proclaimed hardcore Left 4 Dead fan, I have to admit I feel a little ashamed I didn't know that there was supposed to be some type of connection between all the different campaigns.

Crash Course will also focus on improving Versus mode. The intended goal is to deliver a "complete Versus mode experience in just 30 minutes." Another new edition is the recharge timer for infected teammates. Look for item re-spawn mechanics, new Survival maps, and more this September. The DLC will be free for PC players and retail for 560 MS points on the Xbox 360, which is $7 IRL money.

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

While it will suck having to pay for something PC gamers get for free, and I prefer the beefier campaigns in L4D, what I've heard about Crash Course makes it seem like it will be worth seven bucks when it drops next month.

heh..this is just the big middle finger from Valve to console gamers...they realy, realy, realy hate the ps3...but also hate/dislike consoles as a whole...im willing to bet if when/if Half Liife 3 is released it will be on PC only..no matter what consoles are on the market at that time....

PC is not a strong market as was in the past. And as for HALF-LIFE 3. They deside to make it in small parts. There will not be one. And that is HALF-LIFE epsiode 1,2 and 3 are for. Is for the third instialedment.

Actually, you were half right. Valve really does hate the PS3 but they LOVE the 360. Thats why they keep supporting it with console exclusives. The real reason why they "have to" charge for this content on the 360 is because Microsoft has a mandate that very little new in-game content can be free. So for this one you need to blame Microsoft and not Valve.

As for Half-Life 3, there is no way in hell Valve wouldn't release it on the 360. For third party companies that want to make the most money, the 360 is "the" console to make games for. And that is why every game released on the 360 and PS3 simultaneously always sells more copies on the 360.

Really, you're going to charge console gamers? Even if the game was still relevant it couldn't even demand more then free for DLC. It's 9+ months after all from release for an actual add-on, rather than something that should've been added to the game in the first place (Survival-bootleg). Just like anybody who has tried to join a game this year, it takes 30min or more. Not worth a dime for its' purchase.

That's why you play shooters on PC's.

PC gamers FTW.

Oh, and Nikole, don't feel ashamed, you're not alone, I don't think any L4D fan knew they were supposed to be connected...you're rescued at the end of each one so someone from Valve should explain to us how the hell they are supposed to be connected...

So cool. I just hope MS allows Valve to offer the 360 version for free during the time before L4D Crash Course is released. Since Valve said free DLC was one of the benifits that would be offered for anyone buying their games. If Crash Course isn't free? I hope they lower the cost to 100 MS Points or less.
