Final Fantasy XIV says goodbye to leveling

In a recent posting by Famitsu Wire has revealed a great deal of new information and content regarding Square Enix's surprise E3 announcement: Final Fantasy XIV.
The latest in one of the most popular role-playing franchises of all time, Final Fantasy XIV will follow the massively multiplayer online format that was first introduced in 2003's Final Fantasy XI. One of the most fascinating announcements came when Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be dropping the series' trademark leveling system in favor for a "reinvented" character progression system. Final Fantasy XI's innovative job system will also make a return, but in a reworked format.
Producer Hiromichi Tanaka also revealed that Final Fantasy XIV will branch out into a brand new region in Eorzea, a more "modern" rendition of the classical Final Fantasy universe. Details regarding brand new cut scenes and quests, all used to illustrate XIV's "deep story."

Well, that's completely unexpected. No leveling up in FF14? that's the whole point of the series is to battle enemies in order to gain enough experience to battle tougher enemies and bosses. but i guess we'll have to see how that works out when the game gets released...whenever that is!!!

Crazy...there better be ALOT of stuff to do then..Raid mobs..quests..so on..bec altho "grinding" to level on an offline rpg could get crazy boring..on an MMO its part of the whole 'social' aspect of the game imo...say your iin a guild..nothing goin on that day guild wise...grab some freinds go grind main toons..alts..w/e.....idk..just sounds odd for a mmo not to have leveling.....eitherway..im personly sick of anything Final Fantasy...how bout just FINALY ending the godamn fantasy!!...btw KarlB..there's your "ps3 fanboy" rant! thx

It's gonna be weird not being able to level up in this next FF MMO (still love and play FFXI [DRK/SAM ftw]till this day). Then again, I'm always down for something new. Can't wait.

So this game is going to be Final Fantasy 10, but online? Great....
I do hate grinding, but that is the point of an MMO. To flaunt your level over all the lower levels. I'll still get this game though. I love me my Final Fantasies.

I am playing FFXI or doing real life stuff while you are worried about sony fans.
besides the point, I love to play this game, I have been a fan of FFXI and now its time to move on to the next big MMO.
