Variety reports that Electronic Arts' science-fiction themed survival horror video game, Dead Space, will be a trilogy, with Dead Space 2 and Dead Space 3 in the works. The Dead Space trilogy does not include the upcoming on-rails shooter Dead Space: Extraction, which is a Nintendo Wii-exclusive spin-off of the horror brand.
In addition to the news of two Dead Space sequels, the article reveals that D.J. Caruso (Eagle Eye, Disturbia) will be directing the film adaptation of Dead Space, which is slated for theatrical release in 2010.

uggh if it's anything like Doom, the game to movie genre is fucked. Why Peter Jackson, why?

Finally got around to playing dead space and I must say it is better than RE5. Not RE4 though.

I really should try out Dead Space. I've played Little Dead Space, a million times though. Never gets old!

I guess Disney/Pixar is the only hope for film originality.
Glad to hear about the trilogy though

Dead Space has got to be the scariest video game I've ever played. It was also ultra-fun to play. The space mining equipment as weapons were awesome. In my opinion if it doesn't turn into an inncoherent mess with a storyline that has very little to do with the actual video game (Resident Evil Motion Pictures 1-900+). Than a Dead Space movie might be awesome.

I loved playing this game. The animated movie was full of gore, the story is well written; kinda reminds me of "Event Horizon" "Aliens" and "The Thing". Glad to hear there will sequels already in the works. Hopefully EA doesn't try to turn this into 007 and water the franchise down. The movie doesn't excite me as much, but I'll at least rent it just like all the Resident Evil
