The upcoming family-friendly Guitar Hero sequel, Band Hero, will be heading to the DS, among other consoles, but the DS version will include a new accessory for drumming.

Activision has unveiled its plans for the upcoming DS version of Band Hero (the Guitar Hero sequel that has more of a top-40, family friendly musical approach). While previous DS Guitar Hero games have included a guitar grip attachment that let players replicate the console music game experience on portables, Band Hero will include the drumming and singing features included in Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Now all we need are teeny tiny drumsticks.

In addition to a new guitar grip, Band Hero will also support a new drum attachment that slips over the DS's d-pad and face buttons. Like the guitar grip, the drum grip will only work with the DS Lite, as the dimensions of the slip-on attachment won't fit the original DS or DSi. Band Hero will also include vocals, which presumably, should be playable by DS owners of all stripes.

Band Hero will also be coming to the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii this year. Keep your eyeballs glued to GamePro.com as we'll keep you updated on these new Band Hero accessories the second we lay our hands on them.

Head on over to the next page for pics of the new guitar grip and the vocal interface!

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

I thought the guitar peripheral for Guitar Hero: On Tour was pretty rad, so I've got high hopes for the new mini-drums. Even though Band Hero's top-40 lineup doesn't really float my boat, I still want to give the new peripherals a shot.

Don't buy any Hewlett Packard products. Don't download from their site. It's not safe, they purposely put in files making you believe they are safe and it messes up your pc. They will refuse to help unless you bribe them around $100 to fix the problem that they caused. I will never get HP products again. I hope I will be able to save someone from the aggravations of their products and horrible rude customer service.

I'm surprised they're still making these games for the DS, as I figure loads of people who traded in there DS Lite's for the DSi would be a tad upset knowing they could never play them again. I personally, could care less about this TIRED franchise, or the gimmick of the new mini drum kit... Just seems like a goofy add-on when you could just (possibly?) tap the drums on the bottom touch screen...

And man, someone's mad at HP!!! hahahah
