New details on Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines for the PSP were revealed thanks to the third party producer Frederic Lefrancois.
Just minutes after the latest teaser trailer for the PSP title, Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines, was released, Kotaku unveiled an interview with the third party producer of the game Frederic Lefrancois, who had some revealing details about the upcoming action-adventure installment.
"As it was the case in Assassin's Creed, Altair will get to explore various large cities," Lefrancois, said in a prepared Q&A. "This time around Altair will discover the cities of Limasol and Kyrenia in Cyprus, a beautiful and historically very interesting island in the Mediterranean Sea.
"Once again, you can expect Altair to master his environment while performing all of his signature moves. In fact, Altair will free-run, sprint, fly between beams and climb everywhere to take advantage of its surroundings. This is a huge benchmark technology wise as this kind of freedom of movement has never been seen before on the PSP."
The game will also feature a wide variety of missions that will have to be completed before an assassination attempt, including eight new mission types.
As for the story, the adventure picks up right after the original Assassin's Creed and will bridge the gap between Assassin's Creed I and Assassin's Creed II. Without giving too much away, the game will take place in Cyprus where Altair and the local island resistance will fight against the Templars.
"We chose this setting because it's an intriguing historical period surrounded by conspiracy of the Templar Treasures left on the Island," he said in the Q&A. "The oppression of the people of Cyprus is the perfect backdrop to continue Altair's story and explain some of the key elements of Assassin's Creed 2. "
It was also mentioned that Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines will be able to connect to the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed 2.
"As players unlock health and Hidden blade upgrades in Assassin's Creed 2 PS3, the same upgrades will be unlocked in Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines (PSP)," he said in the statement. "It also works the other way round: on the PS3 you will be able to access any Templar Coins and special weapons you've collected on the PSP."
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines is set for release later this holiday season 2009 and Assassin's Creed II will arrive on November 17, 2009.

Good games. But why play on a handheld when AC2 is coming out on PS3 and 360? I'll pass.

Yeah, the only game I've been interested in for the psp up until now is Chains of Olympus. But now with LBP, Gran Turismo, AC: BL, and more that I'm forgetting coming out on the system, it might be time to invest in one. However, I have (or will have) the big brothers of these games on ps3, so thats a factor.
