Gears of War 3 may have strong RPG elements

During an interview with Develop, Epic Games Design Director Cliff Bleszinski hinted that the next Gears of War title will incorporate RPG elements.
On the topic of the future of shooters, Epic Director Cliff Bleszinski has quite a lot to say. Most notably, during an interview with Develop, Bleszinski expressed his strong belief in incorporating elements of the RPG genre into shooters, as games like Bioshock and Fallout 3 have done successfully.
I had a conversation with Harvey Smith - one of the lead designers on Deus Ex - and said to him the future of shooters is RPGs. He said he completely agreed.
Later on, Bleszinski affirmed his belief that the direction of the Gears of War franchise will be incorporating RPG elements when asked where the series would go from here.
It depends on where things go. I mean, one could wean that from the comments I made earlier about the future of shooters is RPGs and see where things are going with us.
Though no solid plans have been set for the sequel to Gears of War 2, we may be looking at a very different game as development picks up for part three.

I hope not, I hate it when sequels of games start chaning gameplay, it always ruins great games. Keep the gameplay how it is, just add new weapons and enemies. I want to see the story continued, not a different game.

i think they're running out of idea . you cant add more gun without destroying its balance and make each gun unique from each other . i mean really , to me , gow2 is more like 1.5 . why ? not much improvement beside a different story , which can be obtain with dlc , new guns and graphic and horde mode ( which also can be obtain with dlc ). it might work the first time , it did work on me tho ... love horde mode , but not the second time .sometime i wonder if i should had pass the game and watch walkthrough online just for the story .
btw , there's so many things wrong with that picture .

I'm all for this. I love JRPGs, and I love Gears. I think this would work if done in a 'Resident Evil 5' sort of way where you keep all your weapons and upgrade them (as long as running out of ammo is still never an issue). Add that and a New Game+ option where you keep all your upgrades on repeated play-throughs and I'm sold...

This will be interesting depending on how well they incorporate it into the game. Regardless, it's definitely a day one purchase.

i wonder what would happen if gears of war 3 went muiltplatform and went to the ps3?
i think it would solve the lag connection problem. and possiblely make the gears franhicse alot better since the ps3 has a lot of untap powers and unreal engine starting to become better and better these days. it might work. if only cliffy b would agree
