Brutal Legend: Tim Shafer narrates 17 minutes of 'brutal' in-game footage

If you've got 17 minutes of time and are desperately in need of seeing some Brutal Legend footage, then sit your butt down and watch, as Tim Shafer narrates 17 minutes of in game Brutal Legend footage.

SPOILER ALERT: Those not wanting to spoil a thing about Tim Schafer's upcoming rock epic Brutal Legend, be warned. Those cool with spoilers however, feel free to skip the story and feast your eyes on the footage below.

Tim Schafer's Brutal Legend is looking better and better as each day passes, and last Friday, 17 minutes of video gameplay were released on the web, narrated by Shafer himself. Although there is only 99 days left until the games release (not that I'm counting...O.K. I am) the footage below makes the anticipation for this game all the more brutal (No pun intended...O.K. it was, shut up!).

The footage plops you near the beginning of Eddie Riggs' rockin' journey, as he wakes up in the heavy metal-induced world. You quickly grab hold of your two main weapons:

Eddie Riggs' druid slaying Axe, aptly named 'The Separator.' Click image for more rockin' screenshots.

The Separator - An ancient Axe that wields heavy slicing attacks, with various combo moves and charged attacks for all your druid decapitating needs.

And Clementine - Eddie's guitar which has become amplified by the world itself, which can summon electricity, pyrotechnics, and other stage show effects that does damage to enemies. The guitar can't be used too much however, as it will overheat if strummed too frequently.

You'll also be employing a Relic Raiser system, which you use when Eddie discovers ancient tab's throughout the land. You use your guitar skills to play a rock solo, which then in turn raises ancient relics which can be assembled to create various items, such as the "The Deuce" or "Druid Plow", Eddie's upgradable car and third weapon in the game.

Even when surrounded by demon nuns and sword wielding druids, Eddie still finds time to mack on chicks in the 'Druid Plow.'

Throughout the video, Shafer leads you through the various combo moves, special attacks, double team attacks (which, using any ally can form more powerful, special combo moves) and the target lock system for enemies. The footage showcases a lot of bizarre creatures and enemies, from Druids to Battle Nuns to huge spiky venus-fly trap looking monsters. It really is a bloodfest / monsterfest of the highest rock caliber.

Well, you don't see a huge malevolent metal spider every day, now do ya.

While the footage only shows off the beginning portion of the game, which is intended to get you accustomed to the world and the basics, Shafer promises the open world that follows is 64 km2. in area, with lots of missions, side-missions and all kinds of things to explore with your hot rod.

Brutal Legend is set for release on October 13 (99 days from now...still not counting) on Xbox 360, and Playstation 3.

I can't wait to play this game. The world needs more metal-themed video games.

I am growing a plant that is so animated its more like an action figure! It's called THE TickleMe Plant! The leaves instantly fold and even the branches droop when Tickled! You have to see the video to believe this is real. It was easy to grow in the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse I found on line at htto://wwww.ticklemeplant.com

Hell yeah! I wish they would have gotten Manowar to lend their voices. Hope they are at least in the soundtrack.
