ACTIVISION NOT HAPPY ABOUT PS3: Activision's CEO reveals in an interview that they're considering dropping support for the PlayStation 3 and PSP completely.

In an interview with The Times, Activision CEO and president Bobby Kotick reveals that the publisher of such notable video game franchises like Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk, is giving serious consideration to dropping all support for Sony's consoles, the PS3 and the PSP.
"I'm getting concerned about Sony; the PlayStation 3 is losing a bit of momentum and they don't make it easy for me to support the platform. It's expensive to develop for the console, and the Wii and the Xbox are just selling better."
"Games generate a better return on invested capital on the Xbox than on the PlayStation. They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates are likely to slow. If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony. When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console - and the PSP too." -Bobby Kotick

meh, I really don't care, in fact, if they do stop supporting the PS3 maybe they'll start properly supporting the Wii. CoDW@W Wii could have been so much more.
*sigh*

To me this seems like activision using bully tactics to get lower licensing deals or something. That's my guess. Look at how they are going after Brutal Legends after dropping it, and how they dropped Ghost Buster's since they felt like they couldn't milk it for 80 bajillion sequels until it died. They have milked Guitar hero to DEATH by selling different variations on the game, all with guitar peripherals. ( kinda like nintendo and all their peripherals. Yes I own a Wii )
sony may not be winning the console war ( I own a PS3 ), but they still have a nice following to keep it moving large amounts of software. Honestly, I don't think it would be that big of a deal if Activision pulled out. More shelf space for other gaming companies to fill the void.
And like Riff_it_up says. They are a bit of a cash whore with the fact that they don't want new IPs, but rather things they can milk a bajillion sequels out of.

Sony should have developed a system with a regular CPU, and probably make it really cheap with something like 25 to 50% less powerful than the 360 cpu, and they would be leading the console war right now, just with the Sony logo. Similar to how the playstation 2 was 294Mhz, compared to the GameCube 485Mhz and the Xbox 733Mhz.
Instead the have an expensive and difficult CPU to develop for, for a system that doesn't produce better looking games than the 360.
