We're all going to have to wait a little longer to rip enemies apart as Splatterhouse's Jason Voorhees-like protagonist Rick (click here for more screens of the game).

Joystiq reports that Namco Bandai Games' upcoming next-gen re-imagining of the 1988 gory beat em up game Splatterhouse for PS3 and Xbox 360 has been officially delayed until 2010. Splatterhouse was originally slated for a 2009 release date, but was completely absent from E3 2009, and now it's being delayed.

"Namco Bandai Games America Inc. is hard at work on Splatterhouse. Development is in full swing and we are committed to bringing it to the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010. This will give us time to polish and incorporate all the content to deliver a top notch game worthy of this classic video game franchise.

THE VERDICT by Patrick Shaw Patrick Shaw's Avatar Delays are always a bummer. But look on the bright side--at least the game didn't get canceled. I can't wait to play a new Splatterhouse.

i hate delays yet i love em. on one hand it means another 6 months to a year longer that i have to wait, on the other hand it means im not getting some shitty rushed job but a polished worthy title.

Gixman

The delay is a good thing. I say update the graphics. maybe use the graphics engine from Tekken 6 or Soul caliber4. then the game would kick more ass.

This is a good call. I'm super excited for a new Splatterhouse, but lets be honest, the screenshots do not look very good at all. And I agree with Gixman, use the SC4 graphics engine, or the Tekken 6. Those are some very sharp graphics, and these just look blah. Some extra time will be good, refine everything. Make sure a good product is put out. Rushing games is never a good thing.
