Microsoft explains Halo 3: ODST's $60 price

Originally announced as a cheaper-than-normal title, Halo 3: ODST has crept up to the standard $60. Microsoft explains why the price shift happened.
When Halo 3: ODST was announced last year, the developers swore that they were producing a "value-priced expansion." That all changed this week when Microsoft announced that upon release the game would carry a full $60 price tag. So why the jump when the developers themselves said "we don't see this as a $60 game" in an interview? Joystiq went straight to Microsoft for the answer.
'Man... where am I going to find sixty bucks?'
"At the time [of Bungie's comments], the overall scope of Halo 3: ODST was not yet finalized" a Microsoft rep said, "Since then, the project has grown increasingly more ambitious. We believe this stand-alone experience is much more than just an expansion. Halo 3: ODST provides a new campaign from the point of view of an entirely new character. Combine that with three new multiplayer maps, the entirely new cooperative mode called Firefight [shown below], and the complete Halo 3 multiplayer collection on a stand-alone disc, we feel this is a good value and tremendous addition to the Halo franchise."

Ouch. Price increases are never a good thing (coughPSPGOcough). I'm actually more excited for ODST that I've been for just about every other previous Halo game, so it figures they'd jack the price up on me...

So because it has an extra mode, it's going to cost $60? Gotcha.
Bethesda released a massive expansion with new armor, new this and new that in Oblivion. Don't recall it being priced at $60. But then again it's Halo, and fanboys will spend $100 if they have to.

I can think of a million things to call the 3shitty. O ya is there any other games besides Gears Of War and Halo you can think of? Guess not. Don't try to redeem yourself

What this coming from a Sony fan? GT! How many times Sony fans pay for a download game full price? At least this is NOW a full game. Plus extra modes. Modes that will be replayed way more times than any ps3 game will be played.

The only thing more satisfying than owning a ps3 is listening to low-life 360 owners talk about "powning nubs" on shitbox games. the only microsoft exlusive games i care about i have on my pc. and natal is just an enhanced eyetoy. have fun talking to milo since you dont have anyone else to brag about your mad halo skills.
