Xbox Live goes offline today 'for up to 24 hours'

XBOX LIVE IS DOWN: You won't be able to play Xbox 360 games online today due to maintenance of the online service.
This means no steaming Netflix movies via Xbox Live today either.
Microsoft's Xbox Live for the Xbox 360 has gone down today for scheduled maintenance in order to prepare the online service for future enhancements such as Twitter, Facebook, and digital downloads of full Xbox 360 games.
Xbox Live members will be unable to play games online today or use any of the service's other features for a maximum of 24 hours.

Booo. A huge shutdown just so people can Tweet, edit their Facebook page and download games from their couch (that one does sound pretty good)? Why not just add it in little by little?
2 hours here, 3 hours there and in a week it's done without such a large hassle.

in other news the PSN is better then ever, i'm downloading Married with Children right onto my PS3, for some good old entertainment, also can you believe they posted poltergeist 3 in HD onto the playstation store, that's awesome. i can't believe we got a sweet deal over here because poltergeist 3 isn't even out on Blu-Ray yet, so once again PS3 is offering us the best of two worlds, but i hope Digital distribution doesn't take way Blu- Ray cause i like how the covers look
