Miyamoto: new Zelda may require MotionPlus
- June 15, 2009 00:00 AM PST
Speaking to Wired, Shigeru Miyamoto stated that if he had it his way, the new Zelda title would require Wii MotionPlus.
"The goal at this point is that we would make Wii MotionPlus required in order to play Zelda," said Miyamoto, speaking to Wired.com. The next title, announced for 2010 at this year's E3 is short on details at the moment, other than some impressive concept art released during E3. Though it sounds as if the next Zelda requiring MotionPlus is green-lit, Miyamoto also told GI.biz that "The potential for it becoming MotionPlus-only depends of course on how well Wii Sports Resort sells."
If Miyamoto gets his way, we should be able to look forward to the next Zelda packaged with the recently released $20 Wii MotionPlus add-on in 2010.

Sounds like a good idea. The standard Wii controls are way to basic and un precise. It's a chore to try and play a real game with that thing.

No big deal since I got one with Tiger Woods, and will have a second one with Wii Sports Resort. So whether it's mandatory or not, I'll be ready, though I need to play through Twilight Princess first.

Eday_2010 do you not get it. He's talking about the game taking advantage of the new device not if it comes packaged. If its not required then it will feel exactly like twilight princess

Miyamoto said it will be a requirement depending on how well Wii Sports Resort does, which pretty much means it will be required because Wii Sports Resort will sell like crazy, so no worries of the new Zelda playing exactly like Twilight Princess.. not that it's necessarily a bad thing because Twilight Princess on Wii is a great game.

That's good, I'd hate to see the Wii's first Zelda epic to be dumbed-down for the idiots that didn't buy Wii M+

There must be something wrong with you. A chore? Maybe you're real fat and it's difficult for someone as fat as you to lift your arms (unless you're reaching for snacks?)
Twilight Princess, without motion+, was rated 94.45.
Have another twinkie, fatso.

I guess it all dependes how well Wii Motion Plus sells. But really, who wouldn't buy Wii Motion Plus to play the next Zelda? If anything, they can have 2 versions, with or without Wii Motion Plus. Either way, I can't freakin wait!!!

Some of us will be idiots because we do not want an EXTRA that should stay an extra and not mandated?

Expansion pak was required to play Majora's Mask, hardly anyone complained then.

That is eactly my point. I did not have to buy any extras to play Halo, or PowerStone 2. Why can't Nintendo just do with what they have? They did it with the Gamecube, Sony with the PS2 and Microsoft with the Xbox. I have not had to purchase any extras to play MGS4 or Castle Crashers. All I needed came with the system, not some $30 add on that will most likely be required.
