Mirror's Edge sequel confirmed by EA

A high-ranking employee of EA Games Europe has confirmed that Faith has not finished running--Mirror's Edge 2 is in the works!

In a recent interview with EA Games Europe senior vice president Patrick Soderlund, VideoGamer.com received confirmation that a sequel to the 2008 parkour-based first-person action title Mirror's Edge is in the works.

This is not Mirror's Edge 2. But really, can EA improve on these graphics?

?Mirror?s Edge was a risky move. It was a bold move, a very innovative and inspiring move. The game wasn?t perfect by any means. We would have liked the game to sell better even though the game has sold better than most people think.? Soderlund said. ?You will see another Mirror?s Edge for sure. It?s just a matter of when that time is and what we do with it. We have a small team on it and I?m excited about what we do.?

The original Mirror's Edge released in November 2008 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and has sold over a million copies total. The game received a 4/5 score from Reviews Editor Tae Kim, with the game's poor level design and iffy combat keeping the title from earning an Editor's Choice award. GamePro.com will keep you updated on any future Mirror's Edge developments.

THE VERDICT by Dave Rudden Dave Rudden's Avatar

Woot! Mirror's Edge was a pretty sweet concept and they were thisclose to nailing it the first time around. I'm confident that Mirror's Edge 2 will fix the few problems that afflicted the first.

I just played the demo for the first Mirror's Edge about a week ago. I enjoyed it very much and will get started on the full game soon.

This game for me was a love / hate relationship. The first couple of levels were all "ooohhhh....aaahhhhh.... I can't believe I just did that".

But then as the game progress, the level design starts taking a HUGE plummet down, not to mention the extremely frustrating combat system where you are FORCE to fight room after room of 10-15 bad guys with machine guns, and the aiming accuracy of snipers, while you are...barehanded... talk about walking into a fight barehanded, while everyone has knife/machine guns/shotguns.

I am glad that they are making a part two, since this game if done right, will be a very very good game. I just hope they have learned the mistakes from the first one, and improved on those points.

I enjoyed the game, and thought it was underrated. I'll check the sequel out.

My lack of enthusiasm confirmed! Honestly Mirror's Edge was an okay game but it needs some serious tweaking. If you were off by an inch you wouldn't grab onto an object and you would fall to your death. I know the game is about stealth but the fighting was atrocious.

I hate when a sequel is announced and the first thing I read and/or hear is can they really improve the graphics? Why does that matter? I hope they improve on the game and fix the problems with the first one and if the graphics are the same that's fine with me.

I liked the game. It needed work in the level design, and it needed to take out all the police and so on that you had to fight. I thought the best part of the game was running away from people who could actually keep up with you. I think that should have played a bigger role in the game.

i never played the first one, but i'm going to download the demo, just to see if it's right for me. As for the article, what's with all the question marks?
