Sony's 'Worst Kept Secret' the PSP Go, officially announced

Proving that those leaked images and video were indeed the real deal, Sony officially announced their "Worst Kept Secret," the PSP Go today at E3.

Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony, took the stage today at Sony's E3 press conference, and started off with some jokes, telling the audience that he believes Sony is the leader in many things, including leaked content. All the same, the PSP Go (or the "Worst Kept Secret" as they nicknamed it) got it's formal debut, listing off its technical specs, price tag, and release date.

As Sony describes it, the PSP Go is specifically designed for a digital lifestyle, meant for those consumers who wish to live completely digitally. Like earlier reports, the PSP Go will not incorporate UMD's, opting for downloadable content for everything. The product will be released later this fall on October 1st in the U.S., going for a price tag of $249.

Sony's 'Worst Kept Secret' the PSP Go, officially announced

While we all pretty much knew it was the real deal, Sony officially announced the PSP Go today at E3.

Along with being smaller, lighter, having 16 G of internal flash memory, built in wi-fi and bluetooth, the PSP Go will incorporate Media Go, which will replace media manager in helping you consume all forms of media on the PSP including games, video and music. Playstation's video delivery service will also be available for the PSP Go, allowing users to have what they call "Entertainment everywhere."

Sony was clear on letting people know that the PSP Go will not replace the PSP 3000, but will work as another option for those who prefer a more digital lifestyle. They are still going to produce UMD's and release every game as either downloadble or in UMD form.

Again, the PSP is set for launch on October 1st in the U.S. and will retail for $249, and with such titles as Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker coming later this year, the PSP may have a comeback in 2009-2010.

mhmm still not sure if I'm going to get this. I prefer a larger screen and UMD's over a smaller screen, digitical content only device.. I'm in love with my psp3000!! lol..

Let me get this straight, you guys took Super Mario Galaxy 2, New SMB Wii and Metroid: other M out of the front page for *ugh* this?

Oscar847

16gb only? that should be like 5-6 games?
lol.. my ps3s got 100 times bigger than that..(!)

themanuel08

that is impossible that will be 1600gb oo and it will be like 30 games not 6

fercarte

maybe because the ps3 is not portable like the psp, or else you would have to carry around something huge that wouldnt even fit in your pocket. And it says that the 16 gb are internal, so it would be like an ipod touch with much better games. Just like other systems or devices, you can add more memory besides from the internal one.

What an ugly design. They should have just angled the corner instead of curving it. And it's still living in the past- it has no camera, which is cheap technology, and not a touchscreen. The reason is, they'll incorporate the camera which is 1.3 mega pixel and the touchsreen in PSP Go 2! Holy Idiots!

My question now is this. When turning off this PSP Go do we have to hold that power switch for 3 seconds or until the blinking green light disappear before it's finally turned off just like the old PSP? Why can't they just make this thing to turn off by simply sliding off or pressing off the power button? Holy Idiots!
