It's E3 week, and that means lots of videos. At two of yesterday's press conferences, the team behind Splinter Cell: Conviction showed off gameplay from the long-absent Sam Fisher's return to the shadowy spotlight.
He's darker. He's meaner. And, thank the gaming gods, he's voiced by Michael Ironside. Hello again, Sam Fisher.
Splinter Cell: Conviction is the long-awaited return of everyone's favorite subtle agent, in a world that's been shattered into fragments since we last took control of him. Sam's daughter has been killed, he's gone rogue, and he will let nothing hold him back -- nothing -- from finding his daughter's killer.
The environment is much closer, more confined. Dynamically-tilting camera angles make the game feel like it's a shakycam film during the game's most poignant moments, while its new "projected objective" system shows your current goals on walls, mirrors, buildings, and floors. It's an almost creepy step out from what we're comfy with, and we're loving it.
