Quite the opposite of its finicky predecessor, Red Steel 2 promises surprisingly beautiful, precise swordplay with the use of the Wii MotionPlus.

Bundled with the Wii MotionPlus on the peripheral's release, Red Steel 2 is playable proof that great games really can be made for Nintendo's family-friendly console. Its art style has gone the way of the graphic novel, its sword handling is immaculately clean, and its gameplay is the kind of swift, action-packed joyride that we've become able to expect from the boys and girls at Ubisoft.
Its showcase at the Ubisoft press conference was a chance for E3 goers to see dynamic gameplay in a rich, fantasy-old-west setting. Your in-game sword strikes with the same strength you put into a swing, which means if you wiggle the Wiimote around like you're rolling some dice, you'll do about as much damage as a mosquito. But swing that sword with every muscle in your body and you'll blast armor apart, revealing soft flesh beneath. It's not bloody, but somehow it's still very red.
