Assassin's Creed II boasted the biggest poster hanging outside the LA Convention center; it was only fitting it finished off Ubisoft's E3 press conference in grand style.
As Altair was the eagle, is Ezio the angel? Time will tell.
Assassin's Creed leaped, swung, and dove into gamers' hearts two years ago thanks to its thrilling story, vast cities, and endlessly entertaining silent kills. When Ubisoft presented the official trailer of Assassin's Creed II at its press conference today, every eye in the room was unflinchingly riveted to the room's dominating screen. It was, after all, why they'd all come.
Ubisoft whetted everyone's appetites early on with the revelation that they'd acquired the sort of talent that could make movies, and would prove it with a series of live-action film shorts shot on green screen and based in the Assassin's Creed II universe. Then, much later in the evening, they pulled out the stops and showed off the game everyone wanted to see.
The trailer had everything an Assassin's Creed trailer should have: a vast crowd, a silent kill, a chase through the streets of Venice, and something that thrilled us all: a wrist-mounted slugthrower for the trailer's final kill.
Hats and hooded cloaks off to you, Ubisoft. November 17 is going to be a stupendous day!
