Kojima 'Next' site updated: New countdown, Mysterious Mask and Raiden?

If you were expecting another countdown from Kojima's last countdown of a countdown, well, turns out you were right. It's another countdown. But, added to the countdown is a brand new image of someone who looks oddly familiar to a certain blonde haired cybernetic ninja from MGS 4, and a link to an entirely new website with a mysterious crumbling mask.

Once more, we find ourselves at the mercy of Kojima and his crew of sadists as they unveil one more countdown (hopefully the last, but I can see them unveiling another big countdown at E3 as their surprise reveal at this point) and a couple of intriguing images. One of which links to an all new website for God knows what, but it sure is pretty and mysterious.

Recently, in the never ending saga of Kojima's "Next" website, we were given a glimpse of someone who looked oddly familiar to Big Boss from the Metal Gear series. Yesterday, a brand new image was revealed featuring a character that looks oddly like "Raiden" as we met him in Metal Gear Solid 4. Only this time, his eyes are brown (at least one of them is) and he (or she) has new bolts and a bar code on their forehead. Could it be Raiden? Grey Fox? Colonel Mustard in the library with a lead pipe? Who knows? Only Kojima and his crew at this point, and I can almost hear their sadistic laughs now.

Could it be Raiden? Grey Fox? Sunny? Or a completely new effeminate lead? Time will tell.

The other intriguing element that was unveiled is that the Kojima logo near the bottom right transitions into a mysterious bluish gray mask. When clicked upon, you are directed to a completely new site, which asks for your birth date and then shows you the flickering image of a mask which crumbles over time. If the whole thing isn't creepy and bizarre enough, the flickering mask is highlighted with some strange ethereal music. Could this have something to do with Konami's announced Lords of Shadow? Let the brand new stream of theories commence.

One things for sure, Konami and Kojima are pretty excited about their next project, because I doubt they'd put in this much time and effort into frustrating gamers world wide if it wasn't for a good reason. Whatever it is, let's hope it's well worth the wait.

If it's gotta be another Metal Gear game, I hope it's a remake of the original MSX games.

see, it's actually the best part trying to guess what the hell these sites are trying to tell us. it's still a relief once you find out what they mean and saying "Oh, of course!" but i still enjoy all the gueswork.

Yeah. It was weird. Before it was Big Boss or something, now it's a Raiden type character. This is getting interestingly odd

Well then I do not know when this will be. And I starting not cear to guest. I hope that fer just tell us already. I want to know now. damm him and his mother fing friends.

Just a random theory at this point but, maybe this (maybe) MGS game takes place at a point way into the future. I agree with mattchew86 that the "Raiden" character image could be Sunny, perhaps though Jack Jr. maybe, or even Gray Fox (Though for it to be Gray Fox it would have to take place in the past) maybe? Although, I don't exactly remember his eye color. As for the "Snake" image, whether it be Naked or Solid Snake, or perhaps even an offspring of Solid, or, hopefully not, another clone (Gas Snake?). I'm not even going to venture a guess as to what all the letters/numbers mean, there's too high a combination of meanings for me to even fathom a guess at this point. There is 1 sure thing at this point though. Kojima/Konami are sometime soon, going to release this bombshell on the world, & I for 1 can't wait for it to happen. :-)
