Fight your way down memory lane in Beach Head and Southern Hills maps: two original Killzone PlayStation 2 maps remade for PlayStation 3.
Second downloadable Killzone 2 Map Pack announced
London, 20th May 2009: The next wave of downloadable content for Killzone 2 on PlayStation 3 has now been announced. Prepare for a literal blast-from-the-past in the form of the Flash and Thunder Pack: a download from PlayStation Store featuring the Beach Head and Southern Hills maps. They're two of the best maps from the original Killzone for PlayStation 2 -- now completely remade for PS3, overflowing with brutal combat between the ISA and the merciless Helghast and offering gamers even more ways to play the first-person shooter that everyone?s talking about.
The Beach Head map sees the ISA tasked with defending a coastal stronghold against a Helghast landing force. This rain-lashed and windswept battlefield is limited in size -- which means more action, more hand-to-hand combat, plenty of sneaking up on the enemy and melee kills galore. The Southern Hills map sees the ISA attempting to storm a Helghast compound on top of a hill. A mixture of built-up terrain and wide open spaces -- perfect for headshot sniper kills -- this map is full of hiding places and offers the perfect battlefield for a large-scale game with lots of players.
The Flash and Thunder Pack is the second awesome installment of downloadable extra content for Killzone 2 on PS3 and will arrive in PlayStation Store on June 11, 2009.

I would actually prefer 1 or 2 more levels of the single player campaign... map packs are better than nothing I guess.

Killzone 2 fails to crack 1 million units in US
Further new NPD Group data has revealed lifetime sales to date for Sony's Killzone 2 title in the US, with the game so far selling only 677,000 units.
First released on February 27, the PlayStation 3 exclusive debuted in the February sales chart at number five, with 323,000 units sold. In the March results the game fell only two places to number seven, with 296,000 units sold.
By April though the game had fallen outside of the top 20, but data provided to website Gamasutra reveals that it sold 58,000 units during the month. As result the game's lifetime total to date in the US currently stands at 677,000 units.
On its release Sony proclaimed Killzone 2 to be its fastest-selling title ever in the US, in terms of reaching 500,000 unit sales. Responding to the March NPD chart, Sony also revealed that worldwide sales had passed 1 million units, suggesting sales in PAL territories at the time of around 400,000 units (The game was not released in Japan until April 23) & (Not to mention that a "baseball game" also outsold it)
Although the sales figures are strong by most standards the game is reported to have cost over EUR 40 million to develop. Perhaps most importantly for Sony, the title has failed to drive hardware sales on the PlayStation 3, which have actually dropped year-on-year in the US since the game's release.

Halo 3 outsold Killzone 2 last month - Wednesday 20-May-2009 12:33 PM
But which is best? There's only one way to find out...
The battle for the FPS exclusives rages on this month, as 20-month old Halo 3 outsells Killzone 2 in the US.
According to sales data collected by Gamasutra, Killzone 2 sold 58,000 in the States last month, but it points out that "Halo 3 and Halo Wars each sold somewhere between 57,000 and 74,000 units."
That means that Halo 3 likely topped the 58,000 units mustered by Killzone 2 in April. But there's a small chance it didn't.
Halo 3 was released in late September 2007, so M$ is bound to be pleased that it's still making numbers this far from release. The large amount of downloadable content it's received has obviously helped.
Thanks, OXM.

I think in the back of our minds we knew that Killzone 2 would never be a Halo killer. I love Killzone just as much as the next guy, but it didnt stand a chance against Halo. Being that Halo has been around for much longer and has put out more games gives it a greater fan-base so of course it is going to sell better than a game with fewer fans. Making more money doesn't neccessarily make it a better game though. A lot of people are idiots and will buy anything that everyone else buys, just because of its popularity. That holds true for both games but it is more evident in Halo. Plus the Halos are really shitty games. Yes Microsoft, shooting someone twenty times and them not dieing is really what I want in a shooter. I'll stick with COD, the real mans shooter.

Your point being what exactly? That people like you actually spend time looking up this useless shit and putting it on a website that, lets face it, no one even cares about reading
