Fallout 3 releasing 2 more expansions in '09, first Halo Wars DLC out today

In some downloadable content news, it was revealed today that Fallout 3 will release two more expansion packs later this year, while Halo Wars releases the first patch of DLC today on Xbox Live.

In a couple of weeks, the best new games of the year will be revealed to us at this years highly anticipated E3. But, in the meantime, the best games of the past few months and more will be releasing some downloadable content, starting with Halo Wars and Fallout 3.

2 more expansions for Fallout 3, Halo Wars DLC released

New Halo Wars DLC available today on Xbox Live.

Today, Xbox Live released the first batch of DLC for Halo Wars, which is decently priced at 800 MicroSoft points ($10). Ensemble, the developer behind the title, have added new "Strategic Options" that will include three new multiplayer modes and new unlockable achievements. While Ensemble is no longer around, many of the former employees went on over to Robot Entertainment, which will continue to work on additional content for the game.

2 more expansions for Fallout 3, Halo Wars DLC released

Fallout 3 is set to have two new expansions later this summer and looks like the PS3 will finally get in on the DLC action.

Fallout 3 also released some news about their upcoming downloadable content, which is expected to be available over the summer. The two new downloadable episodes will be entitled "Point Lookout" and "Mothership Zeta." What little is known about these episodes is this:

Point Lookout (Which will be released in June)

Explore a massive new swampland area filled with new quests and content.

Mothership Zeta (Which will be released in July)

The aliens have returned, and they're pissed. Experience an alien abduction first hand and find out if you're tough enough to survive.

At launch, both episodes will be available for the PC and Xbox 360 and are expected to cost 800 MS points ($10) each. Previous episodes such as The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage will also make their way to retail stores in the form of disc-based Fallout 3 add-on packs. The disc-based versions of The Pitt and Operation: Anchorage will hit stores on May 26, while Broken Steel and Point Lookout will be released in August.

It seems the PS3 will get in on some of the DLC action as well however, as Bethesda expects to release Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt and Broken Steel later this summer for the PS3:

"Operation: Anchorage will be released for PS3 in late June, followed by the release of The Pitt and Broken Steel 4-6 weeks apart," said Bethesda. "Release dates will be forthcoming." Previously, that DLC was exclusive to the PC and Xbox 360.

The new episodes, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta will find their way to the PS3 as well, "after the first three DLCs have been released." It seems these episodes will only be available via the Playstation Network, as "Retail versions of the game add-on packs for PS3 are not possible."

In one last addition to Fallout 3's barrage of releases, a Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition will hit stores in October, which will include the original game along with five add-ons. The PC version will be priced at $49.99, while Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will cost $59.99.

I still haven't played Halo Wars, and I've been holding out on the Fallout DLC (mostly for the increased level cap).

Good news for Fallout fans that have PS3 version I guess.

fueledsystem

thats sweet shame they cant increase the level to 35 or so but 30 aint bad even though I achieved it on one file already

lol...Nuka Cola Quantum...lol...you remember the weird lady from the game who wanted you to find them so she could get her fix? I had to shoot her. Any chick crazy like that over some glowing coke is bound to end up becoming a Hitler of the Wasteland. I was sad to see the Kharma meter disagree.

htown4life

I didn't know they were going to release anymore DLC's for Fallout 3 with Fallout: New Vegas coming out next fall. This is really good news.
