BioShock 2: 8 minutes of new gameplay footage revealed

Today, 2K Marin released an 8-minute preview of Bioshock 2, featuring some gameplay, new plasmids, and some early plot spoilers sure to please fans who can't wait to dive back into the nightmarish, underwater metropolis.

The return to Rapture is steadily approaching with 2K Marin's Bioshock 2 slated for release later this year and today, 2K Marin released an eight minute video entitled, "Bioshock: Hunting the Big Sister," that gives some insight into what's to be expected and unexpected from Bioshock 2.

Undoubtedly, there is great anticipation for the follow up to 2K Marin's 2007 smash hit Bioshock, and it seems the developers seem to know that all too well.

"Bioshock is a hard act to follow, we wanted to make sure that we could surprise you no matter what you were expecting" said Jordan Thomas, creative director at 2K Marin who narrates the footage.

The video reveals a lot of new interesting gameplay options, not the least of which being the fact that you will be playing as a proto-Big Daddy, drilling and plasmiding your way through terrors that are certain to arise along the journey.

Bioshock 2 is slated for release near the 3rd quarter of 2009.

Although it's the same footage i saw before, it's still pretty dang awesome. I really hope this game is as incredible as the first.

This is going to be an awesome videogame. Designing the multi-player part of Bioshock 2 as a prequal to fill in some of the backstory of how Rapture fell apart is going to be awesome (which I think was mentioned in the previous article on gamepro.com). It's going to be exciting to return to some of the old locations from the first Bioshock and also of course exploring all the new areas also. I can't wait until the Demo premiers on Xbox Live.

I still haven't watched, and I probably won't. This is definitely a MUST-BUY, so I want to avoid any spoilers. I was gonna do the same for RE-5, but I caved about one week before it was released ahhaah. Biochock was absolutely amazing, and I have no doubts this one will be great.

that looks good i haven't played or bought the first one yet. I'm not to crazy about spending 60 bucks on a year old port. IDK how great it is I'll get it when it hit the 30-40 dollar mark.

I am really exited to play this game the first one was awesome. people think I am crazy for saying this... in the first bioshock whenever a splicer came up to you to kill you you did not take alot of damage . It did not give me a challenge with the splicers. I hope they fix that in bioshock 2.
