Last Tuesday, Kojima Productions sent a cryptic email with the words "T [minus] 3 days" as its subject line, with a link to a website that was not yet active. The next day, a magazine image was revealed showcasing some clouds, trees, and grass with a teasing announcement of "2009.5.18" also featuring the link. Today, surprisingly, Kojima Productions enigmatic web site has gone live and it's about as revealing as, well, clouds, trees, and grass.

Kojima's mysterious 'NEXT' web site goes live

Kojima's new website reveals moving clouds, trees, grass and a fence. The only thing that's clear is that we are very confused.

From what we can tell, not so unlike the previously released image, there is a large grass clearing, only this time there is a fence off to the right in the distance and some trees lining the left side of the image. The most exciting bit is the hovering clouds, which move ominously over the landscape.

As to what it means? Your guess is as good as ours. Outside of the curious flash animated image, the only real information provided is through the title of the site which reads, "Kojima Productions 'NEXT' " and the site's meta keywords, which include "Hideo Kojima, MGS, METAL GEAR, NEXT, game, konami, kojima game, KJP, Kojima Production." The question is now, if the website is already up, what is going to be revealed on May 18th?

Whatever Kojima and crew are hiding, E3 seems to be the place where they are going to spill the beans on their next project.

varmint... something about that world makes me laugh, and im pretty sure it has something to do with yosemitee sam. also, kojima always pulls stuff like this off, i for one enjoy the build-up. im sure once this game comes out, this'll make complete sense.

Why must we always be teased with weird pictures for unannounced games? I'm still trying to figure out what that Team Ico picture means....

If you look at it one way it makes sense. To me it's saying,"a storm is coming." And that probably means you can expect to see Raiden in this upcoming game.

Speaking of Team Ico for some reason when I first saw this Kojima website I instantly thought of Shadow of the Colossus. I know that doesn't make sense, but the open field made me think of it.
