Blizzard's unannounced MMO to be based on new franchise

Word leaked today that Blizzard's unannounced MMO currently in development will indeed be based on an entirely new franchise.

You won't be seeing this in Blizzard's next MMO.
Blizzard's WoW community manager Zarhym focused briefly on the new IP in a lengthy post on the Wrath of the Litch King message boards.
?We have nothing to advertise for the new MMO because it's a shell of a game thus far,? said Zarhym. ?We've already stated it'll be a brand new franchise, which means the lore, art, and game play are being developed entirely from scratch. It's an overwhelming process, but a process through which we excel. Our track record supports this.?
Blizzard Public Relations Manager Shon Damron was reached by phone but had no immediate comment.

Well, there goes World of Diablo and World of Starcraft. Anyone have any intelligent ideas on what Blizzard's next MMO could be?

Hmmm wonder what it could be, besides diablo and WoW.
maybe a mix of both with a new name, hope it turns out good anyways.

Hopefully free to play online but I know thats not goin to happen. I have tons of things I need to pay for monthly, WoW can't be one of them.

Hmm...I thought I had already read this somewhere a long time ago (Blizzcon 08 maybe).
I have no clue what a new franchise could mean, but I have no doubt that Blizzard will be successful.
PLEASE GIVE US DIABLO 3!

You probably read one of my posts at BlizzCon 08 about how Blizzard was developing a new MMO but at that point they hadn't confirmed what it would be about (StarCraft, Diablo or a whole new franchise). They did tell us it was possible it was an entirely new franchise but they didn't confirm that until yesterday...and even then it was more of a slip up than an announcement.

Anyone else think that it's a pretty stupid business decision for Blizzard to make a new MMO game? Which it then just be competing with itself in the MMO market.

zomguh. Knowing Blizzard, this new series could be anything. They've done history, fantasy, future, my guess? Present. Beyond that, I don't think anyone except Blizzard themselves would know.
Not only am I looking forward to SCII and Diablo III, but afterwards and the possibilities of Warcraft IV.

well, I honestly thought, it was gonna be World of Diablo. I say this because of how Blizzard handled the warcraft series. Warcraft 1,2 and 3 and then WOW.
Diablo is the only other franchise they had that was 1, 2 and soon 3.
But since its gonna be an original IP, I have a feeling it is gonna be completely different than WOW. But I also wouldn't mind a more adult based game (not cartoony).
