City of Heroes Going Rogue is announced for PC. First details below.
Today Paragon Studios announced that they are releasing a second expansion for City of Heroes. Entitled Going Rogue, the expansion will deal with the modern themes of the anti-hero or anti-villain, characters that are extremely popular in our culture these days. It's very exciting to realize that for the first time ever, the lines between good and evil will blur, making way for the possibility of playing the villain with the heart of gold, or the hero who sacrifices his morality to the darkness in order to do what must be done.
Players who buy the Going Rogue expansion will travel to the alternate dimension of Praetoria. There Tyrant, Statesman's evil counterpart, rules with an iron fist, and it is your job to track his Praetorian guard down.
It's a smart move for Paragon, in my opinion. After all, the most popular movie right now is Wolverine, the definition of the anti-hero. Today's MMO player wants to have those more adult storylines to follow (and I'm not talking Playboy here). With the prevalence of games likeDragon Age: Origins, we as gamers are looking to explore the ambiguities that lie within the choices we make in our games. It stands to reason that an MMO that deals with the fight between good and evil, between heroes and villains, steps up to the plate and gives us the chance to see what it's like in the grey area in between. Still, I would have loved City of Aliens.
