Fans who were heartbroken by yesterday's news about Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms closing down might find a little silver lining in two image gallery sets from concept artist Layne Johnson and art director Tramell Isaac. Aside from the image shown above, Isaac and Johnson share some detailed concept art for what might have been, as well as renders of different environments that were to be featured in the canned project.

Keep an eye on the artists' blogger sites, as you never know what new images might pop up.

Yeah but images are a far cry from a release date as any have been in past years.
We've had alot of screens over the years of different builds & these seem to lack even the amount of hope the old screens did since 3DR is history.

Who would have thought the last milestone they achieved was Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. (Everyone).

If Microsoft wanted to CRUSH Sony, this could do it.

I hope it does come out. It would be a fitting end to a great bunch of developers. I do highly doubt that anything this game will be is gonna get the description "Worth The Wait".

You know what? If it takes this long to release a game, it's not worth it. I mean, if you're going to delay a game for six months to bang out the kinks, that's one thing. Yes, I won't get to decapitate space aliens for another six months (or something similar), but if it's a better game as a result, fine. This game's creation story was getting to be a joke. "When It's Done" isn't a good idea for a release date.

No amount of screen shots will save this doomed project. It's finally over and about damn time.

Aww, I'm so sorry for them. It is as if they're saying, "Please, give us our job back. Don't let Duke Nukem die." But that game is stupid with a stupid name for its character. And I'm glad it will disappear forever.
