2K Marin: Bioshock 3 may journey even further into Rapture

BioShock 2 is still in development and well on its way to hit consoles later this year, yet there is already speculation of a BioShock 3 and its potential setting.

  • Speculation still runs wild for 2K Marin?s highly anticipated sequel to 2007?s smash hit BioShock, BioShock 2. Yet, amongst the chaos of rumors, there is already word on a BioShock 3 and its potential setting sticking to the mysterious underwater city of Rapture.

In an interview released Tuesday on OXM.com, Jordan Thomas, the Creative Director at 2K Marin discussed Big Daddies, Big Sister, and the possibility of returning to Rapture for BioShock 3.

I think Rapture remains fertile for as much expansion as a team sees in it. I absolutely believe that there might be future games set in Rapture in whatever time period, but I would also say that I think that the BioShock brand is big enough that it could evolve. Currently, we find Rapture fascinating, that a city that large begs further exploration, a city with that much history, but I can't speak to specific sequels past BioShock 2 now, but I could speculate and say merely that the type of experience that type of experience BioShock is is flexible enough to see lots of expansion down the road, and a lot of different directions. -- Jordan Thomas

2K Marin's Bioshock 3 to journey even further into Rapture?

Hold onto your plasmids, because BioShock 3 may explore Rapture even further.

Obviously it?s too early to tell what Bioshock 2 holds in store for us, let alone a BioShock 3, but odds are the results are going to be nothing short of breathtaking.

Whatever it is, it has to surprise the player. Whether you stay in Rapture, or go elsewhere, it's got to bring you somewhere unlike anywhere else, unlike any other game. So there's a pretty broad range if that's your thesis statement, right? -- Jordan Thomas

how bout dont turn this into the next call of duty francise? Since there are two different developers and everything that sounds the same as the case with call of duty.

Just leave the future games in Rapture, there's no reason to set the game anywhere else. Rapture is Bioshock.

i have a good feeling about this though there are concerns about ruining it me response Capcom was working on resident evil 3 right after resident evil 2 was released and look how it turned it was more of an action than horror but it was really fun game.
