According to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, it will be four years before we see the next generation of consoles (the next versions of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) and one more year before we see Nintendo's rumored Wii HD.

"We therefore think it is likely that the 'next' generation will begin after 2013, meaning that software sales are likely to grow by a compounded annual rate of 6?10 percent for another five years... ...We do not expect a "new" console in 2010 other than the long-rumoured high definition Wii, which is likely to upgrade the Wii to current console technology" - Michael Pachter

I like where this is headed. I'd pick up an HD Wii in a second, and as for PS4 and Xbox, that's fantastic. I'd like to see my money well spent on a console that will last a good 8 years before being outdated.

if the Wii HD is for real, than i think they would have started advertising by now.. But if its tue, i hope i can send my wii in so they could update it to make it HD for like $100

Respected by who? I never heard of this guy until two years ago and i'm still waiting for him go get something right.

Is there anyway that Nintendo can raise the resolution with a firmware update? At least for the main menu I mean. The Wii is powerful enough to play at least SSFII HD Remix in high def. Or view photos in a higher resolution .

lol better late then never, There should be an update. wii already has composite cables, it just needs to be able to output in 720p

Michael pachter has yet to deliver on anything on his predictions...if he thinks well pay 70 bucks for a game then ill just stick with ps3.

I hope it's not a black hd wii, because it looks awful. And actually, I don't really need an hd wii, maybe just better graphics and new and original games, not only ports and re-releases (there are new and original games, but they're the minority).

Will obviously there's going to be a PS4 and a new XBOX. But a HD Wii , i am not sure about that because one of the problem with the wii it doesn't have next gen graphics. I have a wii and i play on my 47" LCD FULL 1080p in it looks awsome, so is pointless. The only way that makes sense for nintendo to bring out a HD Wii, is that has build in hard drive and next graphics.
