Shogun beats up on Liddell, reads up on GamePro

Moments after defeating Chuck Liddell in the UFC legend's final match, UFC star Mauricio "Shogun" Rua picked up a copy of our May issue featuring UFC 2009: Undisputed.
When putting together our cover image for our May 2009 issue of GamePro (currently on store shelves), which features an exclusive, in-depth preview of the upcoming UFC 2009: Undisputed, we decided on an image featuring one of the sport's biggest legends as well as one of its brightest new stars. In the image (shown on the right), Chuck Liddell appears above Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, ready to unload a brutal attack on the up and comer.
Turns out we probably should have reversed the roles.
At UFC 97: Redemption, Shogun defeated Liddell in what will probably be the veteran's final UFC bout, knocking him out five minutes into the first round. Moments after the press conference dedicated to his monumental victory, Shogun posed with a copy of our May issue (which will hopefully find its way back to us with Shogun's autograph on it). The image is below.

UFC 2009: Undisputed is due out next month on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Good job, Shogun! In honor of your victory, I won't post the picture of me posing with a copy of that issue. Since I'm so much more buff than you and all.

Chuck Liddell is just getting to old for fighting, as much as i like his fighting. But Shogun kicked chuck's ass. First round knock out.

First round knock out.No no no....You know nothing about UFC....He didn't kick chucks ass he caught him with a left hook that dazed the crap out of liddell...Now BJ PENN VS. George St. Pierre on the other hand that's a REAL ass kicking fight.....BJ Penn covered up just enough to get the crap kicked out of him for 4 rounds....Don't post anymore about UFC kid you know nothing...The Only people chuck has lost to is REAL BADASSES(Except for Keith Jardine who he lost a decision to).......That's it he fights anyone they put in front of him....And you can also thank Chuck Liddell for helping UFC become Mainstream and for being so likeable and not cocky. Randy Couture beat the heavyweight champ at 41 years old and chuck knocked Randy out twice...So don't act like you know anything about chuck or the UFC....Have a nice day!

how does randy beating tim have anything to do with chuck getting old. He IS getting old and cant compete with the young up and comers, so how about u stop acting like u know anything about mma because u have watched the ufc for about a year or 2 u tuf noob

I dont think anybody is going to deny the contributions Liddell has made to the sport, but Shogun did kick his ass. I saw the fight and I also saw chuck's response after the ref stopped the fight, "what happened?". That's an ass kicking in my book. Would you have preferred the ref let the fight continue if Chuck was just dazed?

thank you. I know Chuck Liddell has made contributions to the UFC. Hell, if he wasnt part of it, it wouldn't be what it is today. But he's 39, getting WAY too old, and got knocked out by Shogun. To chuck's girlfriend, why don't you go learn a thing or two about UFC. THAT was a major ass-kicking.
