I mentioned earlier this week that we could expect the long awaited second Battle Report and I delivered on that assumption. Happy Friday everyone!

For those unaware of what a "Battle Report" is exactly, it is a fairly long (25 minute) gameplay video commentated by StarCraft II developer Dustin Browder. Through these entertaining video features Browder is able to demonstrate and explain changes in the pre-beta game as well as showcase never before seen features.

The three things this video highlights the most run the gamut. You'll notice improved artwork, additional animations, and new abilities. These are just things I scratched down on my notepad while watching the Battle Report. You might find it helpful when following along.

  • * Artwork has improved drastically. The second Hatchery that is built in the early going shows how the organic Creep expands impressively outward.
  • * Death animations are great. Though not new, the SCV exploding after it dies is just one example of the detail each unit is getting.
  • * The Roach's attack animation has improved, it now shoots a green mist of sorts. Also you'll notice at one point how effective the burrow and regenerate tactic can be using the Roach, especially when attacking a mineral line.
  • * The proximity mine and Baneling combo at the 10:25 mark is awesome!
  • * At one point it says "Tyu has left the game" across the screen indicating that more people were spectating this game than just the commentators. It's great to see the new spectator function.
  • * Nighthawk's are awesome. The brand new "Hunter Seeker Missile" is insane! Make sure to watch how it does crazy splash damage to the Zerg at the 17:43 and 19:09 marks respectively.

Wow I am unbelievably excited for this game. Great match there too, with the Terrans coming back. I am disheartened by the little attention this game has from other gamers on this site.

Blizzard is easily my favorite developer, although Starcraft isn't my favorite IP (gotta give that to Diablo). If the other gamers on this site don't care about Starcraft then that is probably their loss. Based on past experiences with Blizzard titles, I'd say this game is gonna be outstanding. Just as long as Blizzard keeps with their "It will release when its done" policy.

what an amazing match. There is simply so much depth to the game! I am really amazed. The commentators are so professional!
