Microsoft promises to fix new Xbox 360 E74 system failures

E74 MESSAGE OF DEATH: Microsoft extends the Xbox 360's warranty to cover the new Red Ring of Death-like Xbox 360 "E74" hardware failures.
Kotaku reports that Microsoft has extended the Xbox 360's warranty to cover the new E74 system malfunctions console owners have been experiencing as of late. The E74 hardware crash acts similarly to the dreaded but common Xbox 360 Red Ring of Death, rendering the next-gen console completely useless.
Xbox 360 owners who get the E74 will see the error message below and should contact Microsoft's console repair services at once.
Here is the official statement from Microsoft:
While the majority of Xbox 360 owners continue to have a great experience with their console, we are aware that a very small percentage of our customers have reported receiving an error that displays "E74" on their screen. After investigating the issue, we have determined that the E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. As a result, we have decided to cover repairs related to the E74 error message under our three-year warranty program for certain general hardware failures that was announced in July 2007.

I've just gotten over my nightmares of the RROD. Now I have to worry about this? Well, at least Microsoft will repair this new 360 booboo.

I always thought it was awesome that Microsoft will give you a 3 year warranty on their hardware. That is unprecedented. I remember when my PS2 crapped out, I was shit out of luck, no pun intended.

But i digress. The hardware failures is what's keepin from gettin a 360. Unlike my old cart-based systems (and PlayStation), im positive this system wont last over 4 years. How many times would i have to send it in, in its lifetime?

I had it-ON MY ELITE! They did a very nice job. I got it back with no scratches or anything, better than it was before the error. I remember, 4:37 pm est on Jan 28, 2009.

this shit here is ridiculous. if its one thing its another with this damn system. as an owner, i should not have to worry about my system being rendered useless. these machines we buy are not cheap. why is it only microsoft is having this problem? the other systems dont give gamers no problems at all. its a shame that 360 owners have to think about this problem and worry when its going to happen to them. its damn near inevitable.

I have sent my console in multiple times. It doesn't really bother me too much, each time I get a new console I get a new warranty. It's annoying yes but if you could get a free item every year or so to replace the older one thats alright with me lol.

I've sent my console in several times and it really didn't bother me.M$ was fast as far as getting my console back to me plus i have a ps3.Sony should have did that with their ps2 disc read errors.

Look, I just got my ps3 back from getting fixxed. I had to pay $149. Now that sucks a$$, but I just came back from St Pete and it was balla, anyway. Go outside and enjoy the weather, cuzz when it get summertime. It's gonna be unbearable. Game on
