Monster Hunter Freedom Unite is on it's way, and Capcom is feeling confident in its latest entry into the Monster Hunter franchise.

With the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Capcom's Colin Ferris stated that the latest game in the hot-selling Monster Hunter franchise will be "the best game you'll ever play on the PSP." Ferris also talks about working on Freedom Unite in a post on the Playstation Blog:

It's a rare treat to be able to tell people that I'm working on the best selling game in Japan last year. To those who are unaware, they immediately think of PS3 games like Metal Gear Solid 4. Nope, my game outsold that and every other console game on the market.

The game? Monster Hunter for the PSP.

The latest version (Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G) was the top selling game in Japan last year and no amount of giant robots can change that. With over 3 million copies sold to date in Japan, about one in four Japanese PSP owners have the game. To be able to work on bringing a game of that caliber to the US is both a pleasure and an honor. It's also the best game you'll ever play on the PSP.

It's apparent that Monster Hunter games sell like hotcakes in Japan, it's yet to be seen if the same will happen when Freedom Unite hits the States.

Kinda cocky for him to say that, especially considering that Monster Hunter hasn't always been a huge seller in the U.S. The truth is, U.S. and Japanese markets differ considerably: Games like Monster Hunter and other JRPGs are considered very high-profile games in Asian markets, whereas popular U.S. games like Resistance, Grand Theft Auto, Gears of War and Halo don't gain nearly as much momentum as they do in the States. The Japanese love their traditional, turn-based RPGs; us Americans love our guns (or, in this case, games with guns in them).

Ehh i dont know about that... the best psp game??? nah.. im not really into JRPGs...

I've been saying for months that Monster Hunter was one of the greatest games! All we have to do now is find a a Grav and hammer his skull in. Hammers for life

Monster Hunter is Far from a traditional JRPG.
Its an action RPG title thats more demanding than most action games period.
You can always tell whos played the franchies & who hasent.
Its sad this franchies isnt more popular in the U.S.

And it BS that Capcom canceled the PS3 game, then said it was gonna be a wii title but nothings showed up on either system.
