The team behind Mortal Kombat may be looking to leave trouble publisher Midway Games.
Mortal Kombat team looking for greener pastures?
READ: Midway may sell rights to Mortal Kombat
According to "Midway sources who wish to remain anonymous," the team behind Mortal Kombat may be negotiating an exit from its troubled parent company.
Given that the Mortal Kombat team has been the most successful development team at Midway -- even the 2008 fall crossover Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe sold well despite fan skepticism -- the rumors carry weight.
In February, Midway declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is currently reorganizing its debt after top investor Sumner Redstone sold his 87 percent stake in the company.

Wait so this would mean that the Developer team would have to sell the license? Why not sell the team to some other company? I would hate to see MK get raped by some stupid company that won't know what to do with the franchise....

....wow.....Midway without Mortal Kombat sounds odd, but these guys don´t deserve to sink with the ship, their games are still decent....the glory days of MK are gone but still there´s something left for newcomers...
MK 2 ftw

So this could be the end of MK as we know it? Who cares about Midway, I wan't more MK with boon and co. helming the ship. The Mk vs. Dc game was great fun, if not a little lacking in depth. Still, it was fun, new, and good enough to sell well, its not the reaosn why this is happening. If the team does have to leave and can't continue the MK franchise, maybe they'll end up making superhero exclusive fighting games. Maybe they can make some calls and make a marvel vs. dc game since they will lose the rights to their MK characters.

How could MK get raped by some other company? It was never a very good game to begin with. Most people would agree with that. Maybe a new company would improve the series if anything. MK has been useless for about 10 years.

I still have yet to play MK vs. DC Universe, I would like to play it but I don't want to pay the money... If they came out with something diffrent then what they thought up this time around, I would of at least played it by now.

They shouldve came out with a MK vs. Marvel universe, since marvel has more characters that actually have powers, like villains (such as Green Goblin as opposed to Joker). And since Marvel has more characters, they could've kept more MK characters in it as well. And to Denveraic, Mortal Kombat is the best fighting franchise in my eyes (and to most others) and if it isnt first in scores then it's second behind SF. Especially the newer ones, such as Deception, because they have areas where you can throw someone in for instant death, like a spike column or off a cliff. Not so much as MK vs. DC, there was no fatalities.

They should make MK vs Street fighter to end it all.
And no...Street fighter is #1 in my book, mortal kombat comes behind that.
