PlayStation 3 firmware 2.70 doles out new features

Firmware 2.70 allows for in-game text chat, external file storage to free up space, and more.

The PlayStation 3's firmware update 2.70 update is set for release soon, and it will be making a number of improvements to the XMB, including integrated in-game text chat with up to 15 friends. Another addition included in the update is the ability to backup video files onto an external drive to free up space, which you can then restore at any time. The below video explains some of the changes that will be in effect once the update is released.

loaded with improvements? LOL.....dude, are you sure you weren't loaded when you wrote this?
The external drive storage is the only feature that interests me, my PS3 fills up like twice as fast as my 360 for some reason.. so that's something pretty sweet right there..

Now all I have to do is get a really cool looking external drive to sit next to my PS3.

voice chat in home is something they need to do.i think its retarded to have to type non stop to people.it kills the experience.why do i have to actually have someone go to my virtual apartment to have a voice chat with me?

oh and quit bleeding people dry making people buy clothes and furniture for home.if sonys sales pitch is psn is free.then make it free all the way.the only thing im cool paying money for is games add ons and movies.thats it.xbl is just as bad about it,except you dont have to pay for outfits for your avatars.

Back off guys. Maybe Andy is saying the updates are huge and significant rather than numerous.
