GDC News: Square Enix announces two new Final Fantasy games

According to Nintendo's Iwata, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will make their way to Nintendo's WiiWare service later this year.

Today at San Francisco's Game Developer's conference, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that Square Enix has two brand new Final Fantasy titles headed to the Nintendo Wii's WiiWare service later this year -- Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord will serve as a sequel to the highly successful Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, where Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will be the console debut of this previously mobile-only follow-up to the original Final Fantasy IV.

The games should see a release via Nintendo's WiiWare service in May for Japanese gamers, and later this year for Americans.

So we wanted news about Zelda on Wii and FFXIII... and they mock us with Zelda DS and this FF news...

Really?! The title of this article is very misleading, I was expecting good Final Fantasy games. I was disappointed.

i though it was more info about a nu zelda 4 wii for ff13 info but once again i am dissapointed

I loved FFIV (II when I played it on the SNES), so I am looking forward to The After Years.

At this rate FF13 will nvr come out with all these NES-type games coming out

EBURKULOSIS

No kidding Terran! What the French, Toast?! Square has come out with like 10 crappy titles since FF13 has went into production. I have a feeling 13 will be a letdown considering how long they are taking on it. I hope I'm wrong. MLAAK was decent but still had many flaws. And one more thing...this is a sequal to FF2...not IV...we don't care about the Japan numbering system that goes I, IV, XI, XII...HA!

Sounds good I liked MLAAK, even though this is a completely different game than that.

Actually, I think this is incredible news! I had heard of The After Years and was quite disappointed that it would only be available on Japanese Cell Phones. I'm excited to have a chance to play it now; I'm glad SquareEnix realized that most people outside of Japan wouldn't have the phones needed to play it in its original form.
