Rockstar announces Max Payne 3

Rockstar's gritty film noir-style action series goes to number three, launch set to Winter 2009.
Rockstar's anti-hero is readying his guns and one-liners for this winter's release of Max Payne 3. The game is being developed by Rockstar Vancouver, the creators of the angst-ridden schoolyard romp Bully. Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser had this to say about Max's latest offering:
We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game. This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation.
The press release offers few details, but does provide a snippet of the premise, hinting at a darker, more desperate Max: "Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out."
Max Payne 3 will be available winter 2009 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
Note to Rockstar: please don't make any references to the god-awful schlock that was Max Payne the movie. To quote Rolling Stone's Peter Travers, "Max just drags on as it drags you down." You said it, Pete.

I will miss the cardboard cut out face of the first Max Payne. He got a look like someone shit in his morning cereal.

I never thought we'd see a 3rd title given the poor sales of Max Payne 2. I'm looking forward to more noir story and awesome gunplay.

It's hard to imagine his life getting any worse but I guess it will happen. I am just glad that this game exists and will probably get it. Hopefully it is as good as the first two.

I can't wait. I loved the first two games. Also, this game should be their apology for that horrible movie they made last year.

My prayers have been answered! Max now looks alot like Sam Fisher from Splinter Cell.
