I just got my BioShock 2 Game Informer in the mail and finished reading the detail-heavy article on the sequel. I recommend picking up the magazine if you're not a subscriber because there are roughly a dozen BioShock 2 screenshots and a large poster. If you're not a GI subscriber then here are the finer points of BioShock 2 in an easy-to-read bullet-point format.

  • Return to the city of Rapture exploring areas new and old.
  • Play as a Big Daddy. "You don't play just any Big Daddy in BioShock 2. You play the first ever," says creative director Jordan Thomas. You are unchained from the slavery mindset of protecting Little Sisters.
  • The Big Daddy drill replaces the wrench from BioShock 1. Charge like the Big Daddies in BioShock 1.
  • Wield massive Big Daddy weapons and plasmids at the same time.
  • Leveling up Plasmids creates different results. Level 1 Incinerate, for example, "sets things on fire in a snap." Level 2 Incinerate charges up a fireball and level 3 Incinerate allows you to "sustain a steady jet from your palm" like a flamethrower.
  • Ability to combine Plasmids. Combine Cyclone Trap with Incinerate, for example, to create a fiery tornado trap.
  • Harvest or Adopt Little Sisters for Adam. Adopted Little Sisters climb on your back and you treat her like the Big Daddies in BioShock 1.
  • There is only one Big Sister, far as 2K Marin revealed, and she is the master of her domain - Rapture. She is fast, agile, and far more powerful than you.
  • Multiplayer confirmed, no details: "There is multiplayer in BioShock 2," reveals creative director Jordan Thomas.

Almost finished the first on a rent, But this one looks like a possible buy. THE big daddy?! I'm normally not one to drum up hype... but this look's like it'll win the Game Of The Year award!

This is the first time I have ever read one magazine advising its readers/site goers to pick up an issue of a competing magazine. Gone are the old days when game magazines wouldn't acknowledge the other s by name, let alone recommend picking up an issue :)

I thought the same. It's nice to see GP using GI as a source and giving them full credit. Let's all be friends!
