BioShock 2 gets multiplayer, according to new report

BioShock 2 spans the cover of the newest Game Informer magazine; reports say there are multiplayer details inside.

According to reports, the new Game Informer magazine with the first bits of information on BioShock 2 includes a few details on BioShock 2's multiplayer mode. No hard facts on the multiplayer in BioShock 2 have hit the internet just yet, but David Hinkle at Joystiq has a few ideas for BioShock 2 multiplayer modes we can't argue with:

Big Daddy: This one is a given, with one player taking on the role of Big Daddy, scoring points with each kill. The remaining players must work together (and against each other) to take him down, with the player that dealt the killing blow taking over the role of Big Daddy in the next round.

Splice and Dice: This mode is team-based, and features one side of melee weapon-wielding Splicers who are allowed one Plasmid power. The opposing side is composed of plain old humans. With guns.

Team Slayer: It's UNSC Spartans vs. the Covenant aliens in this fight to the death. Players fight until one side reaches 50 points.

Little Sister Convoy: One team is tasked with escorting a Little Sister from Point A to Point B. While transporting her, the opposing team must take down the convoy and nab the Little Sister for themselves.

THE VERDICT by Travis Moses Travis Moses's Avatar

And here's my crazy idea for a BioShock 2 multiplayer mode:

Big Sister: Players control Little Sisters in levels littered with deactivated Big Sisters (as seen on the Game Informer cover). As the Little Sisters, players crawl through the golden canals of Rapture to locate and jump on the backs of Big Sisters to take control of them for a battle royal. The goal, however, is to kill the Little Sisters. To do so, players will first need to defeat the opposing Big Sister and crush the fallen Little Sisters. On a side note, Little Sisters can one-hit kill each other when not riding Big Sisters.

One can only hope that by adding multiplayer to this one, they will not make a half-baked Single Player or one that lasts only 5 or 6 hours as often is the case with games that go multiplayer.

I wasn't a fan of the first one, but if this game has 4 player splitscreen I will pick it up.

Did anyone else notice that there are Spartans and the Covenant in Bioshock? I don't remember them in the game.
