Resident Evil 5 Launch Photos!

Capcom rolled out the red carpet for Resident Evil 5 fans during the RE5 Union Square party, and we're taking a look back at this awesome launch event!

Resident Evil 5 hype hit a new high in San Francisco's Union Square as Capcom and Gamestop conducted a joint event to promote the newest entry in the RE series. As night fell on March 12, gamers lined up outside of Capcom's party tent, which was lit up by huge "biohazard" signs. Lucky party goers who stuck around for the night got to see much more than a sneak peak at Resident Evil 5 (check out GamePro's 4.5 out of 5 star review!), though: take a look!

Not only was the Resident Evil 5 tent under quarantine for much of the night, but copies of RE5 were awaiting gamers patient enough to stay until midnight and get their game on.

Even at the start of the event, the show floor was crowded with people entering contests, munching on RE5-labeled snacks, and (of course) playing the game.

Yeah, I filled my backpack with about 30 of these babies, hand modeled by GamePro's own Ivy Yup.

Rows and rows of machines were available, and even choosy gamers didn't seem to discriminate between PS3 and X360 versions.

Even the staff was decked out in full B.S.A.A. garb, ready to unload some hurt on any infected party-goers trying to feast on RE5's development team.

THE VERDICT by McKinley Noble McKinley Noble's Avatar Best. Capcom. Event. Ever. Even if you weren't part of the VIP crowd, there were more than enough gaming stations, energy drink cocktails, RE5 prizes, and tons of other goodies to satiate the masses. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some hordes of Majini to hunt down.

I showed up at my Game Stop at 11:56 PM. It was pretty quiet but there were about 50+ people there.

yes clunky is a good description. i have the 360 version as of 2 hrs ago... looks great though.

yes the controls were clunky, but i think thats better then trying something new, capcom doesn't know what we're thinking. Besides im fine with the clustered gameplay adds to the tension and phobia moments, but if you guys are sick of the RE4 controls then thats not my problem. Ill tell ya this though, the story for RE5 is probably the best in the series!

you dont have to press X to run. just click down on on the left analog stick and you run.
