Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2: 'number one game of the year'?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is confirmed to hit this holiday season and is "looking incredible."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may "raise the bar for the shooter genre" yet again when it hits this holiday season, according to Activision CFO Thomas Tippl speaking at the Wedbush Morgan Securities annual meeting. "For 2009, we expect [Modern Warfare 2] will be the most anticipated game of the year," Tippl boldly claims, "Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season."
"There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre. The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job."
Tippl says Activision's strategy of "leap-frogging development" between Infinity Ward and Treyarch on Call of Duty games has paid out with back-to-back blockbusters on a yearly basis [via Kotaku].

Call of Duty is done by Activision. And it is hugely overrated.
Activision Executive Responds, "Lets drop all the good games we had planned. We only want something we can have a new game to every year."
Activision lower executive, "Hear that everybody BURN THE GOOD GAMES."(Brutal Legend, Wet, almost Prototype, Ghostbusters)
Executive, "Keep the rights to the game. If anyone trys to make the game we wanna try and sue."
Hence fourth THEY SUCK

Call of duty 6 is being developed by IW. Activision publishes it.

I just bought COD4 the other day. I have had COD2, 3, and 5 for a while now.

I hate Activision for what they've become, and I doubt it'll be the new standard. To me, Half-Life 2 is the standard, and will remain so until Half-Life 3 (followed closely by Halo 3, then followed by Resistance 2).

im definitely looking forward to this.cod4 was awesome.as long as it is hopefully longer than cod4 in story mode ill have no complaints at all.(and the new ideas they have, actually work out great also, i do have faith in them.they havent steered me wrong yet)

They certainly have a lot to live up to after Killzone 2. The multiplayer is just as addictive as COD4/WAW and the single player campaign is awesome. One hell of a game that's for sure. I hope Modern Warfare 2 is just as good.
