Capcom has Resident Evil surprise for Wii?

While Wii owners may be upset that the soon-to-be-released Resident Evil 5 is not going to be a part of their line-up in the near future (if ever) they may be pleased to know that Capcom has not forgotten them entirely.

When asked about the possiblity of RE5 coming to the Wii, Capcom's Associate Product Marketing Manager, Matt Dahlgren responded:

It was made for the Xbox 360 and PS3. That being said, Nintendo Wii fans will be very happy very soon.

Now what could THAT little statement mean? Eariler reports had said that the Resident Evil team was all for creating something for the Wii but there are still no details as to what. Will it be some kind of psudo-port of 5 like Chop 'Till You Drop was for Dead Rising?  Some sort of sequel to Umbrella Chronicles? Or something completly new and original?

With Capcom, at this point, it could go any way.

It's been ported to the PS2 and GC, so this would make the 3rd. That wouldn't make me happy at all.

please, no more rail shooters. I would love to play through the first 3 RE's again if they tweaked them for the Wii. RE4Wii is the best most fun version of the game for sure.
They already have RE ZeroWii in Japan, bring that over while your at it.

Yes I agree, We really don't need another one. Capcom just needs to stop porting older RE games and focus on new ones.

I'd be happy with RE5 on Wii... or a exclusive RE title, but PLEASE no on-rails shooters. Umbrella Chronicles was not very good... especially compared to House of the Dead Overkill which is phenomenal. I'm a huge RE fan, and RE4 is in my top 5 games of all time, but after playing the demo for RE5 on PS3, I just can't go back to analog. Problem is the shooting... once you hit the aim button, you have to aim with 1 analog stick. Dual analog is fine, but 1 analog BLOWS!!!

Wii wouldn't get as may pixels per square inch... but the Wii controls MORE than make up for that. This is one of the few games I would trade graphics for controls in a heartbeat. If you haven't played RE4 on Wii, you don't know what you're missin. Do yourself a favor, stay away from RE4 Wii, cause once you go IR, it's not easy to go back.
