Apple Corps., Harmonix and MTV Games announced today that The Beatles Rock Band will release on 9/9/09, and will be sold standalone, for $100 with a guitar, and in a $250 limited edition bundle.
After announcing a Rock Band Beatles project last fall, facts are finally falling into place regarding the much anticipated edition of Rock Band that will allow gamers to play the music of one of the most popular bands of all time. Entitled The Beatles: Rock Band, the game will come out on September 9, 2009 on the PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360, and will be available in three different retail packages on day one and bonus material being provided for pre-orders. There will be a $60 standalone version (the game will be compatible with all previously released guitars and drums), a $100 guitar bundle (it's not specified whether that includes one or two), and a $250 "Limited Edition Premium Bundle" that will come with instruments modeled after the ones the fab four originally used. Rock Band bundles have previously sold for $170 and $190 for Rock Band 1 and 2, respectively. This will be the first band-themed Rock Band--Aerosmith has had a Guitar Hero game developed around them, and Guitar Hero: Metallica is due out later this month.
The music producer for The Beatles: Rock Band will be Giles Martin, who produced The Beatles Anthology and Love- The Beatles. The son of George Martin (longitme Beatles producer sometimes known as "The Fifth Beatle") Giles Martin will work alongside EA, Harmonix, and MTV games to produce "gameplay that takes players on a journey through the legacy and evolution of the band's legendary career". No screens or additional game information has been specified, but a teaser site is up at Thebeatlesrockband.com.

I vowed that would only buy one of these music games if it was based on The Beatles. All I know is I am not spending $250 on a game with toy instruments. I'll be sticking with the simple guitar bundle.

$250!? wow they are greedy, there is no reason for it to cost that much. There is really no reason to spend $60 for the same game that just has different music either. Rock Band and Guitar hero is just getting ridiculous anymore. Limited Editions of any games are pointless, you just get a bunch of crap. The other day when I pre odered Resident Evil 5, I was asked if I wanted to spend $90 for the limited edition and I said no, even the guy said he never buys limited edition games, they are a waste of money. $250 for a limited edition game is insane.

Dude you f*cking said it, my friend recently dropped an extra $20 on Street Fighter IV and Halo Wars Limited Editions EACH. The only thing he got of any value was the Halo 3 maps early... which only cost $10 when they come out.
Anyone who buys the limited edition is a douchebag. $250? That's not even worth it if it came with all the instruments AND an extra guitar.
