Halo director Frank O'Connor tells USAToday that he expects the return of Master Chief will definitely happen.

In an interview with USAToday about today's release of Halo Wars on Xbox 360 (read our 4 out of 5 star review here), and the forthcoming Halo 3:ODST, which is a standalone expansion to 2007's Halo 3, Halo franchise development director Frank O'Connor revealed that there's a high likelihood series protagonist Master Chief will make a return in a future game.
I doubt we have seen the last of Master Chief. -Frank O'Connor
In addition to predicting that Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 will return in a game at some point, whether its in Halo 4 or as a cameo in Halo 3:ODST, O'Connor also describes ODST's orbital drop shock troopers as the Navy Seals of the Halo universe and says that ODST is more than just more of the same featured in Halo 3.
He notes the game is...
...significantly more than an add-on. It's a lot of game. You play the game through the point of view of an ODST. They are dropped into combat from orbit. They have a rivalry with the Spartans that is well known to the fans of the fiction. We finally let you into their boots as it were. ...It's kind of a detective story in a way. But it is much more action-packed than that.
Halo Wars (left) out today! Halo 3:ODST (right) out Autumn 2009.

Love the Halo universe no matter what anyone says. Master Chief will be back in part 4.

Persoanlly I'm not surprised at this... sometimes it just dosn't feel like halo without the chief. Now if only they could make halo 4's grahpics like those of that Halo 3 trailer, those graphics were amzing in that trailer. If you know what trailer I'm talking about.

Well I downloaded the demo a couple of hours ago and for a RTS on a console it's pretty good. The controls though I give it a B. It's not perfect but it's doable I guess. Now for the final conclusion: I don't care how much game company these days try to perfect RTS on a console; YOU NEED KEYBOARD AND MOUSE to play RTS, period.

those were prerendered. They don't count. But yes, better graphics would be a must.

The newer FPS's are beginning to son the Halo franchise! The Chief definitely needs to make a comeback to show these noobs who's boss around here, anyway.

No, the trailer was in engine. They tuned down the graphics because of performance issues. They used to have real time reflections if you look at early screenshots on B.net.

yes, sorry I forgot about that. In this case, yes it would be awesome. Most games have prerendered trailers and cut scenes.

maybe they should make a game based on when the conflict first happen and when he first obtained his suit.
Go from there.
